Hungary Job Interview
Job Interviews are the most important part of the application procedure in Hungary. The number of interviews varies, depending on the company, the position and whether or not tests are involved.
Prepare yourself - find out information about the company you want to work for. Remember that letters of reference and photocopies of academic certificates at initial job interviews are customary. An extra CV can be handy too. You will never get a second chance to make a first impression!
Punctuality is expected, so arrive at least 10 minutes before the job interview. Firmly shake hands with everyone present. When addressing someone, it is polite to use person's professional title and last name. Maintain eye contact while talking to someone. Try to demonstrate some knowledge of Hungarian history, politics and culture.
When listening to Hungarian talking in English, it is very important to nod showing that you are listen and understand the speaker.
Do not sit until invited. Talk effectively demonstrating your knowledge of the industry and/or the company, do not interrupt the interviewer and criticize former employers.
Prepare for all kinds of questions about your personal and professional goals for the near future and about your achievements in the past. Answer them as fully as you can, avoiding yes and no answers.
Ask questions about the job, the lines of authority and your responsibilities, but avoid raising the issue of salary or benefits early in the process.
Psychological tests and Assessment Centres are mainly used by large multinational firms.
