Responsibilities

  • Serve as the subject matter expert for your department, developing deep knowledge of equipment operation, workflows, optics, quality standards, and the Lens Manufacturing System.
  • Ensure all Tech-1, Tech-2, and Tech-3 associates are fully trained on processes, tools, safety protocols, software, and equipment.
  • Drive department KPIs including productivity, on-time delivery, quality, and breakage in partnership with the Lab Manager.
  • Troubleshoot day-to-day operational challenges including mechanical issues, workflow bottlenecks, quality defects, and personnel concerns.
  • Lead and develop a high-performing team by creating a positive, accountable, and results-driven work environment.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe department that meets all safety and quality standards.
  • Communicate effectively with associates, managers, and cross-functional partners through clear, direct, and professional communication.
  • Conduct coaching, feedback, and corrective action conversations that support associate development and performance.
  • Continuously evaluate and improve department workflows through process improvement and operational innovation.
  • Take initiative to identify risks, remove roadblocks, and support other departments when needed to achieve broader business goals.
  • 3–5 years of leadership experience in a production or manufacturing environment (optical lab experience preferred).
  • Strong technical and mechanical troubleshooting skills.
  • Proven ability to train, coach, and develop frontline associates.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
  • Comfort working with performance metrics and operational data.
  • A hands-on leadership style with the ability to lead by example.
  • A proactive, solution-oriented mindset with a focus on continuous improvement.
