The Youth Care Worker supports the daily care, safety, and well-being of children residing in a residential group home, with an average age of young adolescence. This role works closely with House Parents and onsite staff to provide trauma-informed, nurturing, and structured care. The Youth Care Worker helps create a safe and supportive environment that promotes healthy development, emotional regulation, and positive social interactions.
Responsibilities
~1 min read- →Assist House Parents and other residential staff in the supervision, guidance, and care of youth.
- →Ensure the safety and security of all residents at all times, including during recreational, educational, therapeutic, and transportation activities.
- →Transport youth safely to and from school, appointments, activities, or other destinations, following all safety protocols and traffic regulations.
- →Implement trauma-informed care practices, recognizing and responding to the effects of trauma on youth behavior and emotional needs.
- →Apply de-escalation techniques to safely manage challenging behaviors or crisis situations, using appropriate interventions to maintain a safe environment.
- →Support youth in developing coping skills, self-regulation, and positive social interactions.
- →Monitor youth behavior, document observations, and report concerns or incidents to supervising staff.
- →Assist with daily routines, including meal times, hygiene, recreational activities, and school participation.
- →Participate in team meetings, training sessions, and care planning to support individualized youth needs.
- →Model positive behavior and maintain professional boundaries with all youth.
- →Respond calmly and appropriately to crises, behavioral challenges, or emergencies, following established protocols.
- →Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
~1 min read- High school diploma or equivalent required; some college or training in human services, psychology, social work, or related field preferred.
- Experience working with children or adolescents, especially in residential or care settings, strongly preferred.
- Knowledge of trauma-informed care principles, child development, and behavior management techniques, including de-escalation strategies.
- Valid driver’s license with a safe driving record.
- Strong communication, observation, and teamwork skills.
- Ability to pass Level 2 background check and drug screening.
- Ability to maintain a safe and structured environment while demonstrating patience and empathy.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, as needed.
Requirements

- Ability to respond quickly in emergency situations.
- Residential group home setting with direct interaction with children and other care staff.
- Team-oriented, fast-paced, and dynamic environment requiring flexibility and adaptability.
