WHO YOU ARE:
The ideal candidate provides technical assistance and counsel to TWC executive staff, divisions, departments, boards, or contractors regarding investigation issues. Coach other investigators in investigative techniques, report writing, policy, and defining the scope of an investigation. Communicates essential information to the manager and director, provides specialized technical expertise in completion of reports, proposals, briefings, training plans and accomplishments, and correspondence relating to routine and special assignments.
WHAT YOU WILL DO:
The Lead Investigator (Investigator IV) performs highly complex (senior-level) investigative work. May supervise the work of others. Works under limited supervision, with considerable latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment.
YOU WILL BE TRUSTED TO:
- Assist Department management with monitoring investigations, unit duties, and responsibilities.
- Review requests for investigations.
- Analyze issues/allegations to determine appropriate investigative approach.
- Prepare and review investigation plans; define scope and objective of investigations.
- Determine appropriate use of interview, interrogation, and other investigative techniques.
- Maintain investigative objectivity and impartiality. Analyze available data relating to issues/allegations; apply knowledge of relevant state and federal laws, agency policies and procedures.
- Coordinate investigations with appropriate federal, state, and local law enforcement organizations. Present testimony and evidence in formal hearings and court proceedings.
- Train and coach investigators, TWC staff, board staff, contractors, or others.
- Perform related work as assigned.
YOU QUALIFY WITH:
- Two years of full-time experience performing auditing or investigating work; or unemployment insurance claims examiner tasks; or gathering of information, interviewing, counseling or in the instruction, demonstration, and interpretation of policies in a public or private enterprise.
- Relevant academic credits may be applied toward experience qualifications for this position.
