WHO YOU ARE:
You are a highly motivated and professional maintenance specialist ready to join the facilities Operations and Maintenance team to provide and promote a safe and comfortable environment for agency employees. You are a self-starter skilled in all facets of commercial building maintenance, a problem solver, and a team player.
WHAT YOU WILL DO:
The Maintenance Specialist IV performs highly complex (senior-level) building maintenance and construction work. Work involves maintaining and repairing buildings, utility systems and stationary equipment, operating motorized equipment, requisitioning material and supplies and maintaining records. May serve as a lead worker providing directions to others. Works under limited supervision, with considerable latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment.
YOU WILL BE TRUSTED TO:
- Perform maintenance, construction, and repair work such as painting or mechanical work.
- Perform carpentry works such as installation, alteration, repair and maintenance of buildings, doors, windows, wood fixtures and furniture.
- Perform inspections of operating machinery, equipment, utility systems and building accessories and appliances to ensure proper maintenance and repair.
- Calculate material and labor costs and order parts and supplies.
- Maintain records on work orders or projects.
- Assist licensed electricians in the maintenance and repair of electrical equipment and circuits.
- Assist licensed plumbers in the installation, maintenance and repair of plumbing systems and components.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
YOU QUALIFY WITH:
- Four years of full-time experience in fields that provided knowledge of such trade skills as building maintenance, carpentry, painting, electricity, plumbing, heating and air conditioning, or automotive repair.
- Relevant academic credits may be applied toward experience
qualifications for this position.
YOU ARE A GREAT FIT WITH:
- Graduation from an accredited high school or successful completion of GED certification, plus five years of full-time experience in fields that provided knowledge of such trade skills as building maintenance, carpentry, painting, electricity, plumbing or heating and air conditioning.
- Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a major (24 semester hours) in industrial arts.
- Completion of 300 clock hours of course work in building maintenance, electrical maintenance, construction, carpentry, plumbing, or air conditioning/heating from a licensed vocational, technical, or business school.
- Knowledge of the construction, repair, maintenance, and operation of buildings, equipment, and utility systems.
- Skill in the use and maintenance of tools and equipment.
- Ability to follow instructions; to work from drawings, diagrams, or blueprints; and to communicate with others.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including occasional nights and weekends.
Moderate travel to and from State office buildings and thus requires a current Texas Driver's License and proof of liability insurance.
