Responsibilities
~2 min read- →Drive Community vehicles for the purpose of transporting residents, visitors and employees to and from appointments and other activities/outings and run errands at the request of other departments.
- →Assist Environmental and Transportation Services Manager with resident and departmental billing, department related financial reports, filing, data processing, tracking and other administrative duties applicable to daily operation of the department.
- →Maintains knowledge of current Department of Transportation laws to insure safety to all our residents and employees.
- →Attend refresher training for CDL licensed drivers.
- →Job Criteria – Position Specific Key Procedures/Equipment/Processes
- →Demonstrate ability to operate and follow GPS devices for directions and read and follow maps to any given destination.
- →Transport residents, visitors and staff in a friendly and safe manner. Assist residents/visitors on and off vehicles by helping with their assistive devices.
- →Report any mechanical malfunction to appropriate personnel
- →Regularly reviews, updates and records information in vehicle logbooks to ensure all pertinent information is up to date daily and available for inspection.
- →Perform safety inspection inside and outside prior to and after trips and record results on inspection check list.
- →Display flexibility toward shift work to accommodate transportation schedules. Contact necessary person to insure transportation is carried out in the event of unscheduled absence or late arrival.
- →Maintain current CDL licensure and keep Department of Transportation physicals current.
Valid Class C-Commercial Driver’s License with passenger endorsement in the state of Georgia, Valid DOT Medical Examiner’s certificate. Eligible for and must remain eligible for Carlyle Place insurance coverage. First Aid and CPR certification to be obtained within 60 days of hire.
High School Diploma or GED required.
Must have at least two (2) years driving experience operating a Commercial Vehicle.
Skills and knowledge to obey all safety and traffic laws and physical compliances within the Department of Transportation regulations. Possess basic understanding and operation of the mechanical components of a vehicle. Ability to remain calm under emergency situations and while dealing with multiple tasks. Possess good judgment within legal laws as well as Carlyle Place Policies in problem solving. Minimal skills to operate office equipment and ability to complete all required functions of the Transportation Department daily operating tasks.

Must have functional range of motion of the cervical, thoracic and lumbar spines, upper and lower extremities with a grip strength of 60-80 pounds, specific to the job class evaluation. Must be able to forward reach, overhead reach, bend, squat, kneel and change from one position to the other rapidly. Must be able to lift 25-60 lbs. and carry 25-50 pounds specific to job class evaluation. Must be able to tolerate high noise, busy atmospheres and noxious odors. Must be able to work in noisy environments and be self directed to complete jobs as ordered. Must be able to remain calm under stressful situations. Must be able to assess and respond to multiple situations simultaneously. Must be able to assist co-workers in multiple overlapping tasks simultaneously. Must be able to prioritize job tasks and organize work space to be efficient and conducive to completing work tasks as assigned in a timely manner. If job class is identified as falling under POPE C, the individual must pass the cardiac recovery test.
