About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Mechanical Engineer with experience in pipe stress analysis to support the design and qualification of high-integrity piping systems for our advanced reactor projects. The ideal candidate will be proficient in ASME B31 piping codes and have experience or a strong interest in ASME Section III Class 1/2/3/A/B piping design.

Responsibilities

  • Perform pipe stress analysis using industry-standard software (e.g., CAESAR II, AutoPIPE) in compliance with ASME B31.1, or B31.3.
  • Support the design, analysis, and documentation of nuclear piping systems under ASME Section III Class 1, 2, 3, A, or B requirements.
  • Conduct pipe support evaluations, thermal expansion assessments, and seismic/operating load analyses.
  • Interface with cross-functional teams including structural, thermal, and system design engineers.
  • Prepare calculation packages, analysis reports, and design documentation for regulatory and quality reviews.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of piping design standards and design review processes.

Requirements

  • B.S. or M.S. in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
  • 3+ years of experience in pipe stress analysis and piping system design.
  • Proficiency with ASME B31 codes (B31.1/B31.3).
  • Working knowledge or experience with ASME Section III piping design preferred.
  • Familiarity with design documentation and QA processes in regulated industries (e.g., nuclear, oil & gas, aerospace).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • U.S. Citizenship or Permanent Residency is required.

Nice to Have

  • Experience with nuclear safety-related or safety-significant piping.
  • Knowledge of Code Case N-755 (for HDPE piping) and Code Case N-122.
  • Familiarity with P&IDs, pipe routing models, and piping isometrics.
  • Experience with SmartPlant, AutoCAD Plant 3D, or similar platforms.
