The Millwright at Chance Aluminum will be responsible for installing, maintaining, repairing, and troubleshooting industrial equipment and mechanical systems throughout the facility. This role supports production by minimizing downtime, improving equipment reliability, and contributing to a safe and efficient manufacturing environment.
Responsibilities

- →Install, maintain, and repair all mill related systems.
- →Perform routine inspections and preventive maintenance to reduce unplanned outages.
- →Troubleshoot mechanical failures using diagnostic tools and technical manuals.
- →Disassemble and reassemble machinery with precision to manufacturer specifications.
- →Use hand tools, power tools, welding, and fabrication equipment to make repairs and modifications.
- →Ensure equipment alignment, leveling, and balancing for safe and efficient operation.
- →Read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and schematics.
- →Collaborate with electricians, engineers, and other maintenance staff to complete repairs and improvements.
- →Document maintenance activities, repairs, and parts used in CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System).
- →Follow all safety protocols, including lockout/tagout procedures, and always wear proper PPE.
- →Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance equipment performance and plant productivity.
- →Support emergency repair needs during production downtime or breakdowns.
Requirements

- Comfortable working in a noisy and physically demanding industrial environment.
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, and work in tight spaces for extended periods.
• High school diploma or GED required; technical certification or Millwright apprenticeship preferred.
• 3+ years of experience as an industrial Millwright or in a mechanical maintenance role.
• Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, hydraulics, pneumatics, and rotating equipment.
• Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, blueprints, and schematics.
• Experience using precision measuring instruments (calipers, micrometers, dial indicators, etc.).
• Basic welding and metal fabrication skills are a plus.
• Physically able to lift heavy equipment, work at heights, and in confined spaces.
• Strong troubleshooting skills and the ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
• Experience in the aluminum or metals industry is preferred.
• Working knowledge of CMMS and preventive maintenance scheduling is a plus.
• Familiarity with OSHA safety standards and mechanical safety practices.
Nice to Have
~1 min read- Associate degree or certification in industrial maintenance, mechanics, or a related field.
- Experience with Lean Manufacturing or TPM (Total Productive Maintenance) principles.
- OSHA 30 certification.
- Full-time position with possible on-call availability for emergencies.
- Rotating shifts may be required, including weekends and holidays.
