Under the direction of the Plant Manager, Operations Manager II is responsible for the daily oversight, coordination, and execution of engineering and facility operations activities. This role provides direct leadership and support to the onsite engineering team and is responsible for ensuring efficient work execution, maintaining preventive maintenance programs, coordinating staffing coverage, and managing contractor and vendor activities.

The pay listed is the pay for this position. Any specific offer will vary based on the successful applicant’s education, experience, skills, abilities, geographic location, and alignment with market data. Effective 7/1/2026 there is a increase to $65.42

  • Provide direct day-to-day leadership and operational direction for onsite engineering and maintenance personnel.
  • Support the Plant Manager in executing departmental goals, operational initiatives, and site performance objectives.
  • Schedule, assign, and prioritize work activities for engineering staff to ensure efficient execution of daily operations and maintenance requirements.
  • Coordinate preventive maintenance (PM), corrective maintenance, and predictive maintenance activities to maximize equipment reliability and minimize downtime.
  • Review, prioritize, and distribute work orders based on operational requirements and criticality.
  • Monitor PM completion rates and work order performance metrics to ensure departmental goals and service levels are achieved.
  • Conduct regular quality inspections of completed work and provide feedback to staff to ensure standards are maintained.
  • Coordinate staffing schedules including regular work assignments, shift coverage, holidays, vacation schedules, and emergency response to the site.
  • Manage overtime scheduling and staffing resources to support operational needs while maintaining labor efficiency.
  • Manage and coordinate activities of outside contractors, vendors, and service providers.
  • Participate in contractor selection processes including bid review, scope development, vendor evaluation, and recommendation of service providers.
  • Assist with preparation and management of labor and material requisitions, purchase requests, and contractor service agreements.
  • Maintain inventory levels of tools, equipment, and critical spare parts.
  • Maintain documentation including equipment records, maintenance procedures, PM schedules, and as-built drawings.
  • Assist in planning equipment repairs, replacement projects, and long-term maintenance strategies.
  • Support implementation and compliance with all company and site-specific safety programs and regulatory requirements.
  • Communicate facility issues, staffing concerns, and operational risks to the Plant Manager in a timely manner.
  • Perform additional duties as required.
  • Minimum 5+ years of progressive experience in facilities operations, engineering, maintenance management, or related technical environments. Life sciences and/or Pharmaceutical experience preferred.
  • Minimum 2–3 years of supervisory experience leading technical teams.
  • Demonstrated experience coordinating engineering staff schedules, work assignments, and labor resources.
  • Experience managing the CMMS and reviewing performance on a regular basis.
  • Experience in managing and approving timecards/payroll for onsite staff.
  • Experience overseeing contractor activities and participating in vendor selection and management.
  • Strong understanding of building systems including HVAC, electrical, mechanical, plumbing, and building automation systems.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Outlook and Teams.
  • Applicable technical licenses and certifications preferred.
