JOB OVERVIEW • Job Title: Emergency Medicine • Job Type: Locum Tenens • Location: Kaplan, LA • Service Setting: Hospital • Coverage Type: Clinical Only • Coverage Period: 08/16/2026 – Ongoing • Clinical Shift Schedule: Flexible Schedule PATIENT INFORMATION • Patient Demographics: Adults and Pediatrics • Patient Volume/Census: 6,800 annual ED visits • Admissions: Yes • Case Mix: Emergency Medicine FACILITY INFORMATION • No. of Beds in Department: 20 hospital beds and 6 ED beds • Trauma Level: Level 4 Acuity • EMR System: Epic • Specialty Backup Available: Physical Therapy, Rehab Unit, Psychiatric Unit PRIVILEGES & COMPLIANCE • Hospital Privileges Required: Yes • Credentialing Timeline: 30-60 days • Case Logs Required: Previous 2 years • CME Documentation Required: Previous 2 years • Immunization Requirements: Current Flu and TB compliance required COMPENSATION & BENEFITS • Rates: TBD • Travel, Lodging, and Malpractice Insurance: Covered REQUIRED PROCEDURES • Moderate Sedation • Deep Sedation JOB REQUIREMENTS • Active unrestricted Louisiana Medical License and Louisiana Controlled Substance Registration • BC/BE in Emergency Medicine, Family Medicine, or Internal Medicine • Active DEA with Louisiana address • ACLS required; ATLS and PALS required if not EM trained • Completion of approved EM, FM, or IM residency training • Other Qualifications: Supervising Physician License with Louisiana State Board of Medical Examiners • 3rd-year residents accepted under approved moonlighting privileges • Procedural Sedation Version 2 course required if not Board Certified in EM DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES • Provide emergency medical evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment • Deliver coverage within a 24-hour physician staffing model • Perform moderate and deep sedation procedures as required • Document patient encounters in Epic EMR • Collaborate with hospital staff and specialty services to coordinate patient care
