JOB OVERVIEW Job Id: Y-PA-3480051 Profession: Physician Assistant Specialty: Surgery Orthopedic Job Type: Locum Tenens Location: Buffalo, MN Coverage Period: Apr 01, 2027 – Sep 16, 2027 Clinical Shift Schedule: Mon – Fri, 7am – 4:30pm (OR M/T/Th, Clinic W, Admin F) On-Call Shift Schedule: rounding on mornings and occasional weekends Travel, Lodging, and Malpractice Insurance: Not specified PATIENT INFORMATION Patient Demographics: Orthopedic patients, mostly teenage and adult but no age restriction Patient Volume/Census: clinic = 20-25 patients per day Case Mix: Total joint replacements, fracture repairs, foot/ankle, shoulder, knee, hip, hand/wrist, general Orthopedics FACILITY INFORMATION No. of Beds in Department: 34 EMR System: EPIC Excellian Support Staff Available: 1 clinical support staff on clinic days Reason for Coverage: Military Leave REQUIRED PROCEDURES First assist in OR for total joint replacements Fracture repairs Foot/ankle procedures Shoulder, knee, hip, hand/wrist procedures General Orthopedics Casting/splinting/DME application Joint injections JOB REQUIREMENTS Licenses: Active MN license (PA or NP) Board: Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner; MN Board of Medical Practice required upon hire DEA: Yes Certifications: BLS Tier 1 - Basic Life Support required within 180 days; NCCPA certification upon hire; Certified Nurse Practitioner (ANCC) or equivalent PA certification within specialty upon hire Experience: 1+ year experience; 1+ year OR experience required; prior Orthopedic/sports medicine experience preferred Other Qualifications: Controlled Substance Registration (CSR) required DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES First assist in OR for total joint replacements, fracture repairs, foot/ankle, shoulder, knee, hip, hand/wrist, and general orthopedic procedures Provide clinical coverage in clinic, seeing 20–25 orthopedic patients per day Perform casting, splinting, DME application, and joint injections Round on patients in the hospital setting on mornings and occasional weekends Collaborate with surgical team on OR days and handle administrative duties on designated days
