  • Provide advanced spiritual care to patients, families, and team members across diverse populations using established spiritual care frameworks to support emotional, spiritual, and existential needs.
  • Lead complex spiritual care interventions in high-acuity or crisis situations to ensure timely, compassionate support.
  • Integrate theological, philosophical and/or spiritual reflection and clinical insight into patient care to enhance quality and depth of spiritual care practice.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary care teams to contribute to holistic care planning and support clinical decision-making.
  • Facilitate or co-facilitate group processes, including didactics, seminars, and orientation as directed by and in consultation with ACPE Educator
  • Provide education to staff and departments on spiritual care topics (e.g., grief, meaning-making, cultural humility) to support whole-person care.
  • Coordinate and lead religious services, rituals, and observances as appropriate to meet the needs of patients, families, and staff.
  • Respond to on-call and crisis situations, including trauma, death, and ethical distress, ensuring professional communication and documentation.
  • Demonstrate effective time management and prioritization in a fast-paced clinical environment to maintain consistent patient coverage.
  • Document spiritual care assessments, interventions, and outcomes in the medical record to support continuity of care.
  • Participate in departmental initiatives, quality improvement, and program development to strengthen spiritual care services.
  • Maintain accountability to policies and standards of the Department of Spiritual Care, Mission Integration, and ACPE guidelines.
  • Engage in advanced CPE learning, including self-reflection, supervision, and competency development to enhance professional growth.
  • Research Focus plan, conduct, and produce deliverable in a specific area of research/exploration, chosen in consultation with the ACPE Educator.
  • Performs all other duties assigned.
  • Demonstrated commitment to personal orienting system, spiritual integrity, and professional ethics [Required]

  • Ability to provide spiritual care in complex and high-stress clinical environments [Required]

  • Advanced interpersonal and communication skills across diverse cultures, beliefs, and backgrounds [Required]

  • Capacity for self-reflection, theological integration, and emotional intelligence [Required]

  • Ability to lead clinical group processes, facilitate learning, and mentor others [Required]

  • Strong organizational, documentation, and time-management skills [Required]

  • Ability to function both independently and collaboratively within interdisciplinary teams [Required]

  • Proficiency with electronic medical records and standard computer applications [Required]

  • Master’s degree [Required]

Field of Study:

  • in Divinity, Theology, or related field

  • Completion of four (4) units of Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) in ACPE, Inc. accredited Center [Required]

  • Previous healthcare chaplaincy or CPE residency experience [Preferred]

  • N/A

  • Board certification eligible and actively pursuing certification for Activity Professional Certified (APC) [Preferred]

  • Board Certified Chaplain (BCC) from either the National Association of Catholic Chaplains (NACC), Neshama: Association of Jewish Chaplains (NAJC) [Preferred]
