What We Offer
~1 min readUses non-invasive procedures to examine heart valves, chambers, and blood vessels to produce echocardiograms (ECGs). Prepares facilities in accordance with procedural requirements and calibrates equipment as required by the institution. Provides images, data analysis, and patient information to the physician for diagnostic interpretation. Uses good judgment to determine if the procedure was sufficient for proper diagnoses or if additional imaging procedures are needed. Prepares patients for echocardiography procedures, positions patients as appropriate for prescribed procedures, and assists patients at the completion of procedures. Determines appropriate methodology and techniques, arranges immobilization and/or support devices for proper patient positioning, and selects appropriate imaging devices. Obtains patient history, explains procedures to patients, addresses patients’ concerns, and follows established pre-screening policies and procedures. Performs imaging and non-imaging cardiovascular evaluations, including exercise tolerance tests, Holter monitoring, event recorders, electrocardiograms, stress tests, and transesophageal echocardiography. Performs other duties as assigned. Maintains accurate patient documentation, including computerized documentation. Recognizes abnormal rhythms and immediately notifies the physician or appropriate clinical staff. Monitors the patient’s physical condition during the procedure and reports patient status changes or emergencies to clinical staff, supervisor, and/or cardiologist.
