Manages all operations and evaluations of the Neuroscience Program, including program development, strategy, planning, organizing, implementation, assessment, patient flow, and performance improvement. Creates and deploys strategies to increase neurosurgery volume, support neurosurgery committee efforts, and engage physicians. Acts as a contact for emergency department providers to facilitate care for neurological patients in the observation unit. Ensures all program standards are met as required by CMS, The Joint Commission, and the American Stroke Association's guidelines. Handles certification/recertification, reviews medical records for compliance, and develops action plans based on data analysis. Works with a multi-disciplinary team to enhance care coordination across community, EMS outreach programs, staff education, physician and patient education, and marketing communications. Provides management oversight for the hospital-based neuroscience program. Creates policies to guide the operations of the Neuroscience Program. Manages staff to ensure effective delivery of services. Coordinates intra-facility referrals to streamline patient care. Ensures regulatory compliance with all relevant standards and guidelines. Other duties as assigned.

  • Requires interpersonal and management skills in order to deal with complex management problems. Communicates effectively with unit and administrative personnel, physicians, a variety of other hospital staff and persons within the community. Requires advanced knowledge and expertise in providing care in order to oversee others and serve as effective resource at a level normally acquired through two or three years of progressive experience. Requires a high level of critical thinking and analytical skills to make management decisions at unit level and make recommendations for consideration on departmental issues. Requires the ability to integrate the knowledge of teaching principles and counseling techniques in order to direct the growth of the unit staff. Requires a high level of organization skills, effective time management and delegation strategies that include the ability to rapidly prioritize and adjust work flow according to changing unit needs.   • Incumbents must possess these knowledge, skills and abilities and be able to explain and to demonstrate that she/he can perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation, using some other combination of skills and abilities. Must have working knowledge of budgets and healthcare finance and leadership capabilities. Ability to work a varied schedule, to include night and weekend hours, with visibility to all shifts.
