Laboratory Technician

Alfred H Knight has an exciting opportunity for a Laboratory Technician to join the team in Maputo, Mozambique. This role is responsible for ensuring that work is followed according to documented methods and procedures. Ensuring at all times that high accuracy and precision is applied to methods and procedures through incorporating and promoting Good Laboratory Practice Principles.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE AND WORK EXPERIENCE

Required Competencies

• Ability to communicate information both written and verbally
• Good timekeeping and time management skills
• Managing uncertainty: Handles pressure and ambiguity well, exercises good judgement and maturely handles challenges
• Takes responsibility for initiating and completing tasks
• Team Player/Interpersonal: Builds and maintains positive working relationships with their team and more widely
• Able to work as part of a team as well as independently
• Critical thinking: Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgement, and the ability to work with minimal supervision
• Computer Literacy and knowledge of LIMS system
• Strong attention to detail and quality management skills
• Good troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
• Basic knowledge and understanding of ISO17025 requirements
• Basic knowledge of analytical method development and validation knowledge
• Honest, Adaptable and Flexibility

Required qualifications 

• Analytical Chemistry Degree / Diploma
• Basic Knowledge of ISO 17025:2017

Required work experience

• Minimum 2 years of Analytical Laboratory experience with XRF Fused Bead sample preparation and XRF operation for Minerals and Coal Analysis.

Required Languages

• Fluent in English communication and Proficiency in Portuguese will be an added recommendation.
