About the Role
~2 min read• This position is authorized to implement all necessary actions to ensure achievement of the objectives of an effective compliance program; meeting applicable regulatory requirements; building a strong compliance and risk culture, implementing applicable regulatory initiatives and strategic directions of AIA Group Compliance and to provide compliance advice in supporting strategic initiatives of the business.
• This position participates in relevant governance committees and forums, providing independent compliance oversight, advice and reporting on regulatory and compliance matters relating to pension, trustee and investment activities.
• Pension and trust product coverage includes MPF, ORSO, Macau CPF, PPF, third party funds and any other products where AIAT act as the trustee. Investment coverage pertains to the monitoring of compliance with the internal investment governance framework.
• This position supports AIAT CEO in its governance matters and reports to the Board of AIAT keeping them abreast of key regulatory developments, compliance and risk issues, sharing views independently and assisting the directors to discharge their fiduciary duties.
• This position may perform designated regulatory, compliance or governance responsibilities as required under applicable regulatory frameworks and approved governance arrangements.
Responsibilities

- →Oversee and set out trustee service monitoring framework to ensure trustee’s fiduciary duties are fulfilled including safeguarding of members’ interests, supervision of appointed service providers, separation and segregation of trust assets, etc.
- →Keep abreast of regulatory developments on trusts and approved trustee role, take any necessary actions to meet any related requirements and upkeep maintenance of relevant trust licenses.
- →Manage regulatory relations including HK Companies Registry, MPFA and SFC.
Advisory (20%)
- →Provide professional, timely and independent compliance advice to management and general staff on internal compliance and regulatory issues pertaining to the pension and investment businesses, including Hong Kong and Macau pension-related regulations, and on compliance viability of business projects.
- →Represent the company to attend meetings of the Hong Kong Trustees’ Association to exchange views on compliance-related matters and lobby as an industry group as necessary.
- →Keep abreast of regulatory developments and provide impact analysis.
- →Represent the company to attend regulatory meetings and advise on regulatory change projects to ensure effective implementation.
- →Support, and at times, lead, the management of regulatory exams and reviews pertaining to the company
Investment Compliance & Governance (10%)
- →Provide compliance oversight and advisory support for investment activities and investment governance arrangements.
- →Review investment-related initiatives, mandates, policies and governance proposals from a compliance perspective.
- →Monitor compliance with internal investment governance requirements and support investigation, escalation and remediation of investment-related compliance incidents.
- →Support governance committees by providing independent compliance input on investment-related matters. Conduct regulatory impact assessments on investment-related regulatory developments.
Service Provider Monitoring (10%)
- →Responsible for the overall design, implementation and ongoing enhancement of the compliance monitoring program relating to pension to meet regulatory requirements and discharge of trustee duties.
- →Oversee monitoring to ensure compliance of service providers appointed by AIAT including fund administrators, fund managers, custodians, scheme administrators, etc.
- →Oversee compliance reviews performed on relevant business units and provide support to the monitoring program and assurance on the implementation of remedial actions on any non-compliance issues.
- →Oversee proper investigation, reporting and escalation procedures to handle suspected breaches and violations.
Compliance Risk Assessment (10%)
- →Work with relevant functions and business stakeholders to build a risk control framework, identify risks and provide risk-based advice to the business for their informed decision making.
- →Assess on compliance, regulatory and related risks, to enhance risk awareness in the company and help management to identify and mitigate the risks faced by the business.
Product and Marketing Materials (10%)
- →Provide compliance advice on new pension products and services initiatives. Ensure marketing materials and client communication are not misleading, treat customers fairly and proper regulatory approval has been sought where required.
Liaison with Principal Intermediary (10%)
- →Work with Sales and Product Compliance team to oversee and advise on the supervision of Principal Intermediary over their MPF licensed subsidiary intermediaries and their compliance with sales conduct guidelines.
Management Reporting (5%)
- →Responsible for the effective communication of compliance matters to management and group including timely and accurate reporting and/or escalation of such matters in accordance with relevant reporting and escalation protocols.
- →Ensure regular/adhoc reports to Board of Directors, Local Management and Governance Committees for keeping them abreast of the latest regulatory developments and important compliance issues.
Training (5%)
- →Responsible for leading, coaching and developing the pension compliance team to enhance and strengthen their leadership to support the business.
- →Work closely within other AIAI Compliance teams to create synergy across team members to share and exchange compliance knowledge and experience in enhancing each other’s compliance capabilities.
Requirements
~1 min read- Bachelor’s degree holder or, above, in appropriate field (e.g., Accounting, Economics, Risk Management, Business Management or Law) with 10 to 5 years solid work experience in the financial industry handling compliance and/or controls, and at least 3-5 years in a supervisory role.
- In-depth understanding of the pension business preferred and investment compliance knowledge.
- Excellent command of English and Chinese, both written and oral.
- Engaging speaker and with excellent interpersonal skills.
- Independent and able to work under pressure.
- Must be organized, detail-oriented and analytical.
- Must possess strong leadership, coaching and influencing skills; strong business acumen; effective change management skills; problem solving and decision making skills.
- With high level of integrity and takes ownership and accountability of results.
- You are required to obtain relevant licence if your job involves in regulated activities.
- Ensure team members who perform regulated activities have obtained the relevant licenses and fulfilled the licensing requirements.
