As a Mechanical Integrator, you are the crucial link that prepares each project for handover to the client. You will: Integrate a wide range of components into one reliable inflatable and ensure quality in the final phase of the project.
At Airworks, you help bring spectacular inflatable structures to life — right from our workshop. You prepare, test and assemble installations that will later be shipped and showcased at events around the world.
This is a hands-on technical role where precision, craftsmanship and teamwork come together to create something truly unique.
Responsibilities
~1 min readAs a Workshop Technician, you ensure every installation leaves the studio fully functional, safe and ready for deployment.

Assemble and integrate components into large inflatable structures

Prepare and test installations in the workshop before shipment

Support complex builds and ensure all parts work together as one system

Perform quality checks and troubleshoot technical issues

Work closely with engineering, production and operations teams

Help maintain tools, materials and workshop standards

Contribute to improving processes and technical workflows
You work at the intersection of technology and art
You build installations that will be seen at events worldwide
You are part of a hands-on, highly skilled workshop team
You develop broad technical skills across mechanics, construction and integration
You directly see the result of your work before it leaves the studio
You’re practical, precise and enjoy building things that actually work.
You have a technical background (MBO/HBO or equivalent)
You have hands-on experience in assembly, production, or technical workshops
You are detail-oriented and take pride in quality
You like working in a structured workshop environment
You are a team player with a proactive mindset
You’re curious and eager to learn new techniques and tools
In this role, practical, hands‑on experience in theatre/ live entertainment/ event industry is essential. We are looking for someone who is used to working with their hands, has solid technical insight, and can translate that into real, on‑site execution. You naturally sense what is needed — even when a client hasn’t voiced it yet — you are able to anticipate latent needs during both the preparation and delivery of an event.
In short: you see what needs to be done, you take action, and you execute with confidence — and we would love to hear about your experience and see where you have gained it.
1+ year of experience in a technical or production role
Affinity with construction, manufacturing or technical assembly
A practical mindset and problem-solving skills
Ability to work safely and follow procedures
Based near Weesp and eligible to work in the Netherlands
