Position Summary
This position is responsible for assisting and participating in the implementation and operation of the day-to-day management of the Company's Compliance Program and ensuring this program is designed to meet the latest legal and regulatory requirements pertaining to the Company’s lines of business. The Compliance Generalist supports the securing and maintenance of proper licensure for each pharmacy and/or healthcare facility with the applicable State Departments of Health (DOH), Boards of Pharmacy (including non-resident BOPs), the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), State Controlled Substance Registration (CSR) authorities, and other regulatory bodies. This role also supports the Company's broader Compliance Program, including regulatory research, audit support, policy administration, and training, and serves as a resource for licensing and compliance matters across the organization.

What You'll Do
• Recognizes patients' rights and responsibilities and supports them in the performance of job duties; respects patients' rights to privacy and confidentiality.
• Secures and ensures each pharmacy and/or healthcare facility is properly and continuously licensed by the applicable Departments of Health, State Boards of Pharmacy, non-resident Boards of Pharmacy (BOPs), Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), State Controlled Substance Registration (CSR) authorities, city, and other regulatory bodies.
• Assists with tracking, renewing, and maintaining all facility/agency and required individual (e.g., PIC, Administrator, etc.) licensure, monitors expiration dates and works closely with facilities and regulatory bodies to ensure all renewal applications and required submissions are processed accurately and on time.
• Prepares and submits Board of Pharmacy and healthcare facility applications and correspondence, including new licenses, change of ownership, designated personnel changes (e.g., Pharmacist-in-Charge, Administrator, Director of Nursing), and other required submissions.
• Applies for and obtains required facility licenses, DEA licenses, and state, county, and/or city business licenses for new pharmacies, home health agencies, and other facilities as needed.
• Researches state and federal regulatory requirements, including inspections, operational triggers, signage, labeling, and documentation requirements.
• Supports acquisition and transition teams regarding BOP, DOH, DEA, State Controlled Substance, and other licensure requirements, timelines, and regulatory considerations.
• Assists with the development and maintenance of internal departmental training, forms, notices, and associated materials to reflect organizational processes as well as compliance.
• Maintains file and naming convention compliance; consistently reviews files for accuracy.
• Uploads, maintains, and audits facility licenses on Compliance SharePoint so employees can easily access accurate facility licensure information.
• Maintains database and actively works licensing management systems to ensure timely submission and accurate licensing records.
• Helps create, maintain, and revise compliance policies, procedures, forms, and related documentation; assists with the development and coordination of compliance training and educational materials.
• Builds and maintains strong working relationships with internal stakeholders and external regulatory agencies.
• Supports internal compliance audits as needed.
• Monitors communication avenues (e.g., licensing inbox, emails); may be asked to respond, assist with pulling data, or provide follow-up.
• Maintains logs of compliance and licensing inquiries and activities, tracks research and disposition of issues, and researches routine compliance and licensing questions.
• Maintains records, compiles information, updates spreadsheets, and submits necessary forms; manages, maintains, and uploads operating licenses and reports.
• Follows up on licenses not received in a timely manner in accordance with applicable follow-up procedures.
• Maintains strict confidentiality and adheres to all HIPAA guidelines and regulations.
• Performs special duties, projects, and research as assigned.
• Shares knowledge gained with other staff members and works as a team.
• Interacts with others in a positive, respectful, and considerate manner.
• Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree in business, healthcare administration, legal studies, or a related field required.
• 3 - 5 years of experience in an office setting, with at least two of those years in a regulated industry such as healthcare or pharmacy.
• Strong written, verbal, and research skills, with the ability to communicate effectively and professionally with internal staff and external regulatory agency personnel.
• Working knowledge of pharmacy and home health agency operations, healthcare compliance laws, rules, and regulations.
• High level of integrity, with the ability to maintain confidentiality and handle highly sensitive information with discretion.
• Ability to make decisions, proactively solve problems, and work independently with little supervision.
• Ability to prioritize, multi-task, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced, compliance-driven environment.
• Strong organizational, analytical, project-management, and time-management skills.
• Demonstrated extreme attention to detail and accuracy.
• Ability to form and cultivate relationships within the Company and with federal and state agency personnel.
• Ability to work effectively in a team environment while also delivering independent results.
• Strong computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and other Microsoft applications.
Preferred Qualifications
• Demonstrated, successful experience in pharmacy licensing, home health agency facility licensing and certificate of need process, healthcare compliance, or regulatory affairs strongly preferred.
• State Board of Pharmacy technician license highly preferred.
