Akicita Federal is hiring a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner to deliver high-quality outpatient primary care to Navajo children and families served by the Indian Health Service at Pinon Health Center in Pinon, Arizona — a rural community at the heart of the Navajo Nation. This is meaningful, relationship-driven work caring for approximately 11,000 patients, many of whom are traditional Navajo speakers, within a close-knit multidisciplinary care team. You'll practice full-scope pediatric and family-focused medicine in an environment that values cultural awareness and community connection.

- Provide outpatient pediatric and urgent care services to American Indian patients at Pinon Health Center, including walk-in and scheduled appointments.
- Diagnose, treat, and manage acute and chronic pediatric conditions across a diverse rural patient population.
- Support the Teen Clinic and Urgent Care departments, adapting care to the unique developmental and health needs of adolescent patients.
- Participate in off-site services including the Pinon High School Teen Clinic and community immunization events within the Chinle Service Unit region.
- Document clinical encounters accurately and in compliance with IHS, HIPAA, and facility-specific policies and procedures.
- Coordinate with an interdisciplinary team that includes primary care, women's health, dental, pharmacy, behavioral health, physical therapy, and public health nursing staff.
- Deliver culturally sensitive care that respects traditional Navajo practices and the broader mission of the Indian Health Service to elevate the health of American Indian and Alaska Native communities.
What sets candidates apart:
- Prior clinical experience working with American Indian, Alaska Native, or other underserved rural or tribal populations.
- Familiarity with Indian Health Service, Navajo Area IHS, or federally qualified health center (FQHC) practice environments.
- Experience in urgent care or walk-in clinic settings in addition to scheduled outpatient pediatric care.
- Conversational or proficient Navajo language skills, or demonstrated experience practicing with interpreter support in a Native language context.
- Background in community health, school-based health clinics, or immunization outreach programs.
