Insurance Compliance Counsel
Quick Summary
Health can’t wait. Not for symptoms to get worse. Not for a six‑month appointment. Not for a system to catch up. But that’s exactly how healthcare works today. You wait, until you can’t.
Not for symptoms to get worse. Not for a six‑month appointment. Not for a system to catch up. But that’s exactly how healthcare works today. You wait, until you can’t.
Alan exists to end the wait.
Health is a universal right, and we believe this right can only become real when it’s coupled with prevention. We need to stop treating health as something we repair and start treating it as something we build, every day. It’s not solely a question of willpower. It’s the healthcare system itself that needs to work for everyone, in a sustainable way.
So we are building the new standard in prevention insurance. Alan is the first company that integrates insurance, prevention, and care into a single, acclaimed user experience.
We are on an incredible journey to build a global leading company, with a unique culture. We already partner with 40K+ companies of all sizes, serving more than 1M+ members, and have reached €800M+ in ARR.
Prevention as the new norm. That's what we're building with our team of 800+ people. If it speaks to you: we're hiring across France, Spain, Belgium, and Canada. And beyond.
Alan’s Insurance Compliance Counsel, you will be Alan's expert on members' insurance compliance and consumer protection regulation. You will define how regulatory obligations translate into Alan's tools, processes, and products. You will own the compliance posture on your perimeter, proactively manage our exposure, and be the primary interface with regulators on the topics you cover.
You will also be a key connector between the compliance function, internal control, and the audit processes Alan conducts - ensuring audit findings are properly digested, remediated, and embedded into how we operate.
As Alan expands into new markets, you will play a central role in ensuring our compliance standards travel with us: adapting Group frameworks to local requirements and helping stand up the right compliance foundations in new geographies.
The role sits within the Legal Area in the Corporate Unit, led by Marion Bergeret (Group Compliance Key Function Holder), and involves close daily collaboration with the Legal, Insurance, Operations, Sales, Care, and Product teams across all of Alan's markets.

Lead the structuring and continuous improvement of Alan's complaints management framework across France, Belgium, and Spain, ensuring compliance with ACPR recommendations and local equivalents

Report on compliance obligations and risk exposure to Alan's Board and governance committees, with clarity and foresight; Manage regulatory reporting obligations including the ACPR Questionnaire Protection de la Clientèle (QPC)
Respond to regulatory inspections (ACPR, FSMA, or equivalent in Alan’s operating countries), coordinating internally and ensuring Alan is always audit-ready
Support the AML framework: conduct second-level analysis on suspicious cases, manage relationships with regulatory bodies and financial intelligence units, approve high-risk client relationships (including PEPs), and maintain the AML/CFT risk assessment framework
Oversee KYC Ops referents' training and upskilling, including Belgium-specific AML requirements
Coordinate with the AMLO on annual priorities, documentation, monitoring tools, and regulatory reporting to the ACPR and equivalent supervisors

Lead compliance projects with internal stakeholders across Insurance, Product, Sales, Care, and Operations, translating regulatory requirements into concrete deliverables and timelines
Contribute to pragmatic compliance positions on regulatory requirements that affect our products and contracts - turning complex constraints into well-reasoned, pragmatic solutions that support the business.
Design and maintain mandatory regulatory training programmes for Sales and Care roles (IDD competency requirements including duty of advice and product governance, Loi Evin, AML/CFT)
Build internal compliance frameworks, guidelines, and decision-making tools that increase team autonomy and reduce reliance on external resources
Contribute to Alan's written culture by producing high-quality documentation that teams can rely on independently
Ensure Alan's compliance standards travel consistently across all Group markets, whether existing (France, Belgium, Spain, Canada) or newly opened, adapting Group frameworks to local regulatory requirements and deploying them locally in coordination with local counsel.
4+ years of experience in compliance in an insurance or fintech company; solid coverage of at least two of the following: AML/CFT, insurance distribution (IDD), complaints handling, regulatory reporting
Solid understanding of the French insurance regulatory framework and ability to work across EU/local requirements
Proven ability to lead compliance projects cross-functionally: you translate regulatory requirements into clear priorities, align internal stakeholders, and deliver without creating bottlenecks or increased friction
Bilingual French/English (both required, written and spoken)
International exposure is a strong plus
A pragmatic problem-solver: you find the right answer within regulatory constraints rather than defaulting to the most conservative one
Rigorous and well-organised: you maintain high documentation standards, track your commitments, and keep stakeholders informed
Business-minded: you understand what matters for the company's growth and your members' protection, and you calibrate your compliance work accordingly
