Systems Administrator II (F5)

Key Responsibilities

Enterprise Systems Administration & Integration

• Provide technical leadership for enterprise hardware, software, and network operations
• Direct and monitor enterprise systems to ensure high availability, performance, and scalability
• Translate business requirements into enterprise computing architectures, designs, and technical solutions
• Perform engineering analysis and integration of enterprise service alternatives in support of modernization initiatives
• Interface with end users and operations teams to support service delivery and operational needs

F5 Load Balancing & Application Delivery (Primary Specialty)

• Serve as Subject Matter Expert (SME) for F5 BIG-IP platforms (LTM, GTM/DNS, ASM preferred)
• Design, configure, and maintain application delivery and load balancing solutions
• Manage:
• Virtual servers, pools, nodes, and iRules
• SSL offloading and certificate management
• High availability (HA) configurations and failover
• Monitor and optimize traffic distribution, application performance, and system availability
• Troubleshoot complex issues related to load balancing, application delivery, and network traffic flows
• Integrate F5 solutions into enterprise architectures and modernization efforts

Infrastructure Operations & Troubleshooting

• Monitor and resolve issues across:
• Servers (Windows & UNIX/Linux)
• Network systems
• Storage environments (SAN/NAS)
• Applications and enterprise services
• Utilize system and network tools to diagnose and resolve complex performance and availability issues
• Conduct root-cause analysis and implement preventive measures
• Improve enterprise system architecture and performance through proactive enhancements

Systems Installation, Maintenance & Support

• Install, configure, and maintain:
• Servers and workstations
• Operating systems (Windows, UNIX/Linux)
• Enterprise applications and patches
• Support both physical and virtual environments
• Operate and maintain backup and recovery systems, including SAN-based solutions
• Perform routine testing, validation, and integration of enterprise production systems

Systems Monitoring & Optimization

• Utilize enterprise tools to:
• Identify, diagnose, and troubleshoot system issues
• Monitor system health and performance
• Perform routine testing, analysis, and integration of enterprise solutions

Continuously improve system reliability, efficiency, and scalability

Required Certifications

• Security+
• F5 Certified BIG-IP Administrator (201)
• CompTIA Linux+ or equivalent

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience)
• 3+ years of experience in enterprise systems or infrastructure engineering
• 3–5+ years of hands-on experience with F5 BIG-IP administration
• Strong knowledge of:
• Load balancing concepts and application delivery
• Networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, DNS, HTTP/S, routing)
• Windows and UNIX/Linux operating systems
• Enterprise storage (SAN/NAS) and backup systems
• Proven ability to troubleshoot complex infrastructure and application delivery issues

Work Schedule: This position is for Monday-Friday 0700-1600 with minimal need to resolve emergency outages after hours and weekends.
