(Senior) Embedded Software Engineer

Alif established its first European R&D site to Oulu to be a significant center of expertise and employ teams of Software and Digital IC Design experts, to complement the staff in the US and India. As our Finnish site grows, we are looking for a (Senior) Embedded Software Engineer to our Software Development team to take your first steps toward specializing as a Secure Enclave Engineer in our hardware security domain.

Here’s the roles in more detail:

Specializing as a Secure Enclave Engineer, you will work at the closest level to the hardware — where deep silicon understanding is what matters most. The role centers on low-level embedded firmware, ROM code, and chip lifecycle management, with direct involvement in hardware design and implementation. You will design low-power security subsystems that need to stay on around the clock, work with cryptographic implementations, and contribute to verifying the security of the software stack. If you are an embedded developer at heart — comfortable with minimal abstraction and at home where hardware and software meet — this is the role for you to grow into.

Willingness to grow into a team leadership role is also welcomed

This is a permanent, full-time position for an engineer capable of independent planning, organizing, and executing their own work. The role does not require prior experience in a lead or managerial position but does require a strong sense of ownership and accountability. You will be expected to document your work clearly and report on your activities, progress, and results in a structured and consistent manner. Willingness to grow into a team leadership position is also welcomed, but not mandatory.

The role will be built around the experience you have, but here’s some requirements that we feel may be beneficial for you to have:

* Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field

* Skilled in Embedded Software 

* Experience in Low-level Embedded Software

* Proficiency in C

* Proficiency in Arm/Risc-V; familiarity with Verilog/SystemVerilog is a strong plus

* Understanding of cryptographic fundamentals

* Experience with low-power design techniques

* Experience with wireless protocols and techniques
