Research Technician (Nights / Weekends)

Alljoined is creating a future where humans are fully understood and augmented by technology. Our work solves the communication bottleneck between humans and computers by decoding thoughts from the brain, entirely non-invasively. We apply deep learning research to large scale EEG datasets to decode multimedia input, eventually moving to internal thought. As a Research Technician, you will work directly with research participants running neural data collection sessions with precision and care while ensuring our datasets meet the quality standards required for cutting-edge deep research.

Responsibilities include setting up participants, configuring experiments, monitoring live signal quality, troubleshooting software and hardware issues, and handing off clean sessions and clear communication to the team.

You will work hands-on with hardware and experimental workflows, sitting at the intersection of human interaction and high-throughput data collection - directly enabling the neural decoding breakthroughs our team is pursuing.

Location: On-site in SoMa, San Francisco

Shifts: Weekdays from 4 pm - 9 pm and weekends have flexibility with shifts available from 9 am - 9 pm

• Have 1–2+ years of hands-on experience independently operating EEG hardware in a research or clinical setting.

• Are meticulous about data quality and comfortable owning daily and weekly data collection throughput targets.

• Have strong interpersonal skills and the ability to keep participants calm, focused, and engaged throughout experimental sessions.

• Are experienced logging, tracking, and reporting technical events — including hardware faults and environmental interference — that affect data integrity.

• Can troubleshoot workflow bottlenecks independently and implement corrective actions quickly, even under time pressure.

• A neurodiagnostic or sleep technology credential — R. EEG T., CNIM, RPSGT. Clinical EEG or PSG experience transfers here directly

• Familiarity with EEG signal quality work: electrode placement, impedance management, line noise, movement and sweat artifact, bridging.

• A track record of working evenings, nights or weekends reliably.

• Experience owning participant recruitment, scheduling, and no-show follow-up.

• A degree in Neuroscience, Psychology, Cognitive Science or a related field.

• Customer-facing or service work.
