  • The DRE (Design Release Engineer) - BIW Underbody is responsible for the design, development, validation, and release of underbody Body-in-White (BIW) components and assemblies.
  • This role requires strong communication and collaboration skills, as a significant portion of the job involves coordinating activities across design, manufacturing, simulation, and supplier teams.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the development and release of BIW underbody stampings and assemblies.
  • Coordinate with cross-functional teams to ensure design, performance, quality, and manufacturing requirements are met.
  • Effectively communicate technical issues, listen to stakeholder concerns, and drive resolution of engineering challenges.
  • Review and understand forming simulation reports to assess manufacturability and support design decisions.
  • Utilize basic CAD knowledge to facilitate discussions with designers and review engineering solutions.
  • Apply GD&T principles to ensure dimensional integrity and compliance with functional requirements.
  • Support design reviews, change management activities, and product development milestones.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong ability to collaborate, listen, and clearly communicate technical concerns.
  • Knowledge of BIW underbody stampings and assembly development.
  • Understanding of sheet metal forming and forming simulation reports.
  • Basic CAD proficiency – NX
  • Teamcenter
  • Strong GD&T knowledge and application.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, cross-functional automotive environment.
