Mechanical Design Engineer

ONSITE in Berkeley, CA

SolidWorks part, assembly, drawing, and configuration development.
Mechanical component redesign for lower material, tooling, fabrication, and assembly cost.
Sheet metal, weldments, machined parts, piping/fittings, plastics, fasteners, and tolerance stack-ups.
Working knowledge of DFM, GD&T, DFMEA, problem solving, and design validation.

Responsibilities

→Create and revise 3D CAD models, 2D drawings, BOMs, and engineering releases.
→Develop cost-reduction concepts while maintaining requirements and critical interfaces.
→Perform packaging, tolerance, fit, form, function, and manufacturability assessments.
→Resolve nonconformities and field issues through root-cause analysis and design revision.
→Support design reviews, supplier coordination, prototype evaluation, and validation planning.

2+ years for junior or 4+ years for mid-level mechanical design assignments.
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related discipline.
Experience in product design from concept through detailed design, verification, release, and production support.
Working knowledge of GD&T, tolerance analysis, DFM/DFA, DFMEA, and engineering change control.
Ability to communicate technical tradeoffs, risks, and recommendations across design, manufacturing, analysis, suppliers, and customers.
Hands-on SolidWorks experience is required; provide examples of production-released designs.

Salary Range: $120,000 - $130,000

The actual salary offered is dependent on various factors including, but not limited to, location, the candidate’s combination of job-related knowledge, qualifications, skills, education, training, and experience
