About the Role

The Staff Accountant supports the Finance team by processing financial transactions, maintaining accurate records, and assisting with loan portfolio operations. This role also provides backup support to the Loan Accountant and plays a key part in the month‑end close and audit preparation.

  • Initiate ACH pulls for client loan payments and record transactions.

  • Process ACH and wire disbursements for loan closings and draw requests.

  • Collaborate with Loan Administration on Affinity Group Lending closings.

  • Assist with onboarding new loans and perform quality control checks.

  • Support loan modifications, escrow disbursements, and closing cost tracking.

  • Respond to help desk requests related to loan activity.

  • Complete assigned bank reconciliations.

  • Prepare journal entries and reconciliation schedules.

  • Record daily loan system transactions into the general ledger.

  • Process monthly credit card activity and maintain supporting documentation.

  • Monitor unusual activity and report findings to the Controller.

  • Support annual audit preparation and distribute financial reports.

  • Participate in coaching sessions and performance planning.

  • Attend department and company-wide meetings.

  • Engage in training, assessments, and strategic initiatives.

  • Support special events and organizational activities as needed.

  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.

  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.

  • Solid understanding of accounting principles.

  • Experience with ACH processing, reconciliations, or loan operations is a plus.

  • Strong communication skills and comfort working with diverse teams.

  • Interest in nonprofit, financial services, or community development work.
