As a Youth Basketball Referee, your primary responsibility will be to officiate games fairly and consistently while ensuring players follow established rules and sportsmanship standards. You will monitor gameplay, make accurate calls regarding fouls and violations, maintain control of the game, and promote a safe, positive, and enjoyable experience for players, coaches, and spectators. You will also work closely with the Site Supervisor and other recreation staff to support the smooth and successful operation of youth basketball programs while representing American Fork City's commitment to integrity, teamwork, and quality recreation.

Shifts available M-F in the evenings and Saturdays 8 am to 4 pm. Older youth games are November to February. Younger youth games are January through the first week of March.

To excel as a Youth Basketball Referee, a strong understanding of the game of basketball is essential. Familiarity with the rules, strategies, and gameplay dynamics will enable you to accurately identify and call fouls, violations, and other rule infractions. Knowledge of basic basketball rules, regulations, and game procedures.  Ability to remain impartial, fair, and consistent when making decisions.  Strong communication and interpersonal skills are needed when interacting with players, coaches, parents, and spectators.

Additionally, strong communication skills will help you collaborate with the Site Supervisor and other staff members. By combining your basketball knowledge with technical skills and teamwork, you can thrive in this dynamic and exciting role.
