The Role
We are seeking a detail‑oriented Costing Specialist to join our fast‑growing, diversified private corporation at our headquarters in Bryan, Texas, located near Briarcrest Drive and Highway 6. This full‑time, exempt position plays a critical role in analyzing manufacturing sales orders, applying accurate manufacturing costs, and monitoring inventory quantities and values across multiple systems.
The Costing Specialist will work closely with plant personnel, sales, and accounting teams to ensure accurate costing and inventory integrity. This position reports to the Controller.
Compensation: $22 – $24 per hour, based on experience.
What You’ll Do
Team & Culture Contributions
- Contribute to a positive, collaborative accounting team environment

- Communicate effectively and work cross‑functionally to resolve issues
Costing & Inventory Responsibilities
- Analyze production information received from manufacturing plants and apply appropriate manufacturing costs to sales orders and inventory transfers
- Process sales orders, purchase orders, and inventory transactions using Lumber Pro (proprietary software) and NetSuite
- Receive plant inventory and calculate accurate average inventory costs
- Monitor inventory quantities and values to ensure accuracy and completeness
- Work closely with plant personnel, sales teams, and accounting staff to investigate and resolve costing or inventory discrepancies
- Process transactions related to Vendor Managed Inventory (VMI) and offsite inventory locations
- Support monthly and year‑end inventory counts, including variance analysis
- Facilitate transactions related to returned inventory
Who You Are
Education & Experience
- Degree in Accounting preferred, but not required
- Prior experience with costing, manufacturing, or lumber industry transactions preferred
Skills & Competencies
- Strong basic math skills, including working confidently with fractions
- Superior analytical, logical, and computational abilities
- General understanding of inventory processes and lumber specifications preferred
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with a team
- Comfortable adapting to scenario‑based situations where solutions vary based on facts and context
- High attention to detail with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines
- Clear, professional written and verbal communication skills
