Responsibilities
~1 min read- →Bachelor’s Degree in Education, the academic discipline being delivered, or related field,
- →Possess and maintain current Teaching Certification in assigned subject area – reading and/or math preferred, or agreement to earn,
- →Special Education Certification (ESE), a plus,
- →Teaching or coursework experience, or other similar activity in area of primary instruction required; experience working with youth preferred
- Provide professional instruction and teaching to a diverse population of youth as appropriate to the specified course or discipline and/or academic level, adapting, modifying, and creating customized learning tools to address the youth’s specific cognitive needs,
- Evaluate youth and monitor their progress, analyze testing data to determine if a youth needs a specialized learning plan, and provide
- Collaborate with the education teachers to provide the targeted, small-group instructions or individualized instruction based on the youth’s educational and emotional development,
- Establish small groups (1-5 youth) to address and bring deficiencies to current grade level,
- Draft goals and prepare progress reports,
- Adhere to established standards regarding curriculum delivery, educational guidelines, and quality assurance requirements as established by AMIkids and the applicable contract providers,
- Effectively implement AMIkids Way (Kids First, Safety, and Family) and key elements of Positive Youth Development (Relationships, Meaningful Participation, Community Involvement, and Challenged & Engaged Programming) and the AMIkids Personal Growth Model (PGM) in all interactions with students,
- Actively ensure all interactions reflect Kids First, Safety, Family, Relationships, Meaningful
- Participation, Challenge and Engaged environment, and Community Involvement, Interactions with youth shall maintain an environment that provides a physically/emotionally safe space for youth and effective learning, growth, and progress toward individualized goals,
- Model supportive, consistent, respectful behavior with all parties to ensure an atmosphere that fosters healthy relationships, trust, and mutual respect; set clear boundaries and provide observations and reflection to youth,
- Step in and provide coverage for the classroom as needed,
- Participate in Team Member meetings and professional development opportunities,
- Provide appropriate accommodations based on youth’s IEP and 504 plans,
- Maintain accurate education records (e.g., attendance, grades, lesson planning, progress
- monitoring),
- Use authorized state-mandated training methods to prevent and intervene in youth altercations and/or incidents,
- Serve as advisor and positive role model for youth at all times,
- Attend and maintain appropriate crisis intervention/de-escalation training and certification as defined by state and contract requirements,
- Attend and maintain CPR and First Aid certification by a nationally recognized organization,
- Attend required training/professional development events and maintain all appropriate

- Assist with special projects and other duties as assigned.
