Product Owner

Position Overview:

Anaqua is expanding its development capability in Hyderabad to support and accelerate the evolution of the RightHub platform. We are looking for a strong, delivery-focused Product Owner to work locally with the Hyderabad engineering team and act as the day-to-day product partner for development squads building and enhancing the RightHub platform.

This role is ideal for someone who can bridge product strategy and engineering execution. The Product Owner will translate product direction, customer needs, roadmap priorities, and platform requirements into clear, actionable backlog items for the engineering team. They will work closely with global Product Managers and Product Leadership to ensure the Hyderabad team understands not only what needs to be built, but why it matters.

Experience in intellectual property management software, legal technology, SaaS, enterprise software, or workflow-heavy platforms is highly valuable, but not required. More important is the ability to learn a complex domain, communicate clearly, manage detail, and help engineering teams deliver high-quality software. Proficiency in AI automation using agents is a big plus.

Product Ownership and Backlog Management

• Own and manage the product backlog for one or more RightHub engineering squads in Hyderabad.
• Translate roadmap priorities, product requirements, customer needs, and stakeholder input into well-structured user stories, acceptance criteria, workflows, and supporting documentation.
• Ensure backlog items are clear, refined, prioritized, and ready for development.
• Work with Product Managers and Product Leadership to understand strategic priorities and convert them into executable delivery plans.
• Balance new feature development, technical improvements, customer commitments, defects, and platform modernization work.

Working Closely with Engineering

• Serve as the primary local product contact for developers, QA engineers, architects, and technical leads.
• Participate in sprint planning, backlog refinement, daily stand-ups where appropriate, sprint reviews, and retrospectives.
• Clarify requirements quickly and remove product-related blockers for the development team.
• Support engineering in making sensible trade-offs between customer value, usability, technical feasibility, scalability, and delivery timelines.
• Ensure the team has sufficient business and product context to make good implementation decisions.

Requirements and Acceptance Criteria

• Write clear user stories, functional requirements, acceptance criteria, process flows, and edge-case scenarios.
• Define expected product behavior across user roles, permissions, workflows, integrations, notifications, and data states.
• Work with QA to ensure test scenarios reflect real customer usage and business-critical workflows.
• Support UX/UI teams by providing context around user needs, business processes, and desired outcomes.
• Validate completed work against acceptance criteria before release or handover.

Product and Domain Understanding

• Develop a strong understanding of the RightHub platform, including its modules, architecture, customer workflows, and role within Anaqua’s broader product suite.
• Build knowledge of intellectual property management processes, including patents, trademarks, deadlines, documents, matters, portfolios, renewals, docketing, and customer collaboration workflows.
• Work with internal subject matter experts to understand the needs of law firms, corporate IP departments, and other platform users.
• Ensure product decisions are grounded in customer value and operational reality.

Stakeholder Collaboration

• Collaborate with global Product Managers and Product Leadership.
• Help communicate development progress, risks, dependencies, and scope changes to relevant stakeholders.
• Support demos, internal enablement, release preparation, and documentation where needed.
• Act as a key connector between the Hyderabad engineering team and global product stakeholders.

Delivery Quality and Continuous Improvement

• Help ensure that delivered functionality is complete, usable, reliable, and aligned with product expectations.
• Identify areas where requirements, backlog processes, handoffs, or delivery ceremonies can be improved.
• Support a culture of ownership, accountability, quality, and continuous learning within the team.
• Contribute to stronger product delivery practices as the Hyderabad team scales.

Required Experience and Skills

• Experience as a Product Owner, Business Analyst, Product Analyst, Product Manager, or similar role in a software product environment.
• Strong experience working directly with software engineering teams in an Agile/Scrum delivery model.
• Ability to write clear user stories, acceptance criteria, process flows, and functional requirements.
• Strong analytical skills and ability to understand complex workflows, data structures, and business rules.
• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain product needs clearly to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to manage ambiguity.
• Ability to prioritize effectively and make practical trade-offs.
• Comfortable working with distributed teams across different time zones.
• Experience with tools such as Jira, Confluence, Figma, Miro, or similar product delivery tools.
  
  

What you’ll need to be successful:

• Experience in B2B SaaS, enterprise software, legal technology, intellectual property software, workflow automation, document management, CRM, ERP, or case/matter management platforms.
• Familiarity with intellectual property processes (for example, patent and trademark management).
• Experience working on platforms with complex permissions, configurable workflows, integrations, reporting, or multi-tenant SaaS architecture.
• Experience supporting modernization of legacy platforms or development of cloud-native software.
• Experience working with international product and engineering teams.
• 5+ years of experience.
