The Scaffolding Crew Member Helper assists scaffold builders with the safe erection, modification, inspection, and dismantling of scaffolding systems used in marine, industrial, and off site commercial environments. This position supports the scaffolding crew, with assembly according to project specifications and OSHA safety standards. The ideal candidate is dependable, physically fit, safety-conscious, and able to work in a fast-paced outdoor environment.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in loading, unloading, transporting, and organizing scaffold materials and equipment.
  • Help erect, modify, and dismantle scaffold systems under the direction of experienced scaffold builders and supervisors.
  • Inspect scaffold components for damage before assembly.
  • Maintain clean and organized work areas to reduce safety hazards.
  • Follow all company safety policies, OSHA regulations, and job-site procedures.
  • Wear and properly use required personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Assist with securing tools, materials, and work platforms.
  • Work at heights, in confined spaces, in various weather conditions when required.
  • Support other departments with general labor duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • Previous construction, scaffolding, or general labor experience is a plus but not required.
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds or more on a regular basis.
  • Comfortable climbing ladders and working at elevated heights.
  • Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
  • Reliable transportation and dependable attendance.
  • TWIC card or the ability to obtain one may be required for shipyard access.
  • Strong work ethic and positive attitude.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • Good communication skills. (Bilingual)
  • Attention to safety and detail.
  • Willingness to learn scaffold construction techniques and industry standards.
  • Outdoor work in marine and off site in commercial, industrial environments.
  • Frequent standing, climbing, bending, lifting, and carrying.
  • Exposure to heat, humidity, noise, dust, and changing weather conditions.

Overtime, weekends, and extended shifts may be required based on project needs.
