At Ancient Crunch, we are building the FritoLay of Real Food. We are the maker of MASA Chips—the no. 1 selling chip in top stores like Erewhon—and other tallow fried snacks. We use only real ingredients (no seed oils or artificial flavors or ingredients) and manufacture everything ourselves in Hackettstown, NJ.

We are rapidly expanding, having grown 50x in the past 2.5 years, and are now looking for a Supply Chain Manager to supervise the sourcing, ordering, and delivery of our materials, from raw food ingredients to packaging.

We are seeking a full-time Supply Chain Manager to join our growing operations team. You will ensure the smooth, efficient, and cost-effective flow of materials throughout our supply chain—from planning and procurement to delivery and inventory management.

The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, quantitatively-proficient, and eager to learn about both the logistics and quality aspects of our raw material supply chain. You’ll work cross-functionally with production, logistics, finance, and the brand team to keep materials moving and operations on track.

You will report to our the Director of Operations, and work closely with the CEO and CFO as well. This is a great opportunity to develop your skills within one of the most innovate, quality-forward supply chains in CPG today.

Responsibilities

Specifically, you will do…

  • Vendor Management and Sourcing
    • Goal: Build and maintain a strong, flexible supplier network to support ongoing production needs.
    • Action: Identify, vet, and onboard reliable vendors for packaging, agricultural ingredients, and shipping materials. Maintain strong relationships with existing suppliers and ensure we have backup options in place for key items to avoid disruptions. Manage our sourcing team/external consultants to find suppliers for new ingredients or new suppliers for existing ingredients. Learn about our ingredients and quality standards in order to better vet potential suppliers.
  • Material Planning and Inventory Coordination
    • Goal: Ensure materials are available when needed, without overstocking.
    • Action: Use sales projections and historical SKU mix to model out production needs by SKU. Translate production targets into material requirements (e.g., X bags of Y chip = X pouches, X lbs of spice, etc.). Maintain a live model that adjusts as forecasts change and communicate needs to vendors proactively
  • Purchasing and Delivery Tracking
    • Goal: Place timely and cost-effective orders to meet production schedules.
    • Action: Work with procurement analyst to submit purchase orders based on forecasted needs, track inbound shipments, and follow up regularly with suppliers to avoid delays. Adjust plans as needed if delays or supply issues arise.
  • Inbound Logistics and Freight Coordination
    • Goal: Ensure smooth, on-time deliveries from suppliers to our production facilities.
    • Action: Coordinate with logistics team and suppliers to arrange inbound shipments. Work with logistics to monitor transit status and troubleshoot issues like missed pickups, customs delays, or incomplete deliveries.
  • Inventory Management Support
    • Goal: Maintain alignment between on-hand inventory and production schedules.
    • Action: Work closely with the warehouse and production teams to confirm material levels, flag low inventory early, and support restocking before shortages occur. Assist in labeling, tracking, or adjusting inventory records if needed.
  • Quality Control and Problem Resolution
    • Goal: Ensure all incoming materials meet quality standards and production specifications.
    • Action: Coordinate with QA team to create SOPs for quality checks on a per-material basis, and train receiving staff to conduct quality checks and keep records on inbound shipments. Personally review deliveries for quality issues, incorrect quantities, or spec mismatches from time to time. Drive SCARs with suppliers and work directly with them to resolve problems and get replacements as needed without delaying production.
  • Packaging Design Coordination
    • Goal: Ensure accurate and timely packaging designs for all SKUs.
    • Action: Collaborate with the brand team and designers to communicate packaging updates and launch timelines. Manage approvals and send final files to packaging vendors, confirming all proof details (e.g., sizing, die-lines, color codes) before production.
  • Record Keeping & PO Management
    • Goal: Keep accurate documentation of all supply chain activities.
    • Action: Maintain detailed records of purchase orders, delivery confirmations, invoices, and cost tracking. Support the finance team with timely invoice submission and vendor communication.
  • Cost and Contract Management
    • Goal: Optimize material costs while maintaining quality, reliability, and redundancy.
    • Action: Negotiate pricing and payment terms on a recurring basis. Regularly review supplier quotes and seek cost savings through volume orders, alternate vendors, or improved lead time planning. Manage deal structures as needed with suppliers of more complex materials.
  • Main focus:
    • Primary packaging materials (pouches, bags, etc.)
  • Secondary focus:
    • Shipping materials (boxes, tape, etc.)
    • Agricultural supplies (corn, spices, etc.)
  • Opportunity to manage a growing supply chain and procurement team as the company expands.
  • Potential to take on greater responsibility in finance and accounts payable.

Requirements

  • Experience: 2+ years of experience in supply chain, logistics, finance, or procurement for a CPG manufacturing company preferred
  • Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Economics, Statistics, Math, or any related field preferred.
  • Location: Full time in office (in western NJ). US-based applicants only.
  • Relevant cultural knowledge: Bonus if you are familiar with and passionate about health/wellness, seed oils/tallow, premium cpg and design, etc.
  • Skills and Knowledge:
    • Required
      • Data Analysis and Modeling: Proficiency with tools and techniques for financial and supply chain modeling. High competence in excel is required; other data analysis tools (R, Python, etc.) a bonus
      • Business Finance: Proficiency with manufacturing business finance concepts such as COGS, working capital, etc. is required.
      • Project Management and Organization: Ability to own and execute project deadlines, timelines, and documentation organization.
      • Vendor Communication: Ability to create positive relationships and speak to a wide range of counterparts, is required. (You’ll be speaking with farmers in Idaho, packaging suppliers overseas, etc.)
      • AI: Proficiency with modern AI tools and how to leverage them to assist in work, or eagerness to learn, is required. Chatgpt, Claude, etc.
    • Preferred
      • Domain Knowledge: Familiarity with logistics, supplier management, and other company-specific knowledge is preferred. However, the right candidate will be able and eager to learn the specifics of our industry and purchasing needs.
      • Packaging Design: Basic familiarity with graphic design, including color theory, copywriting, Adobe Illustrator, etc. is a bonus.
      • ERP Knowledge: Familiarity with the principles of ERP software is a bonus.
