At Anderson Center for Autism, our nurses are essential members of the clinical team, providing high‑quality nursing care, treatment, and support to students and residents with autism at every age and stage of life. This role blends hands‑on clinical care with meaningful collaboration, communication, and advocacy — all within a serene, restorative Hudson Valley campus in Staatsburg, New York. We welcome both new graduate and experienced nurses and provide robust training, mentorship, and ongoing support.

Pay Range: $40.96 - $46.88 Hourly; Based on experience, education, and Developmental Disabilities certification.

We offer a flexible 8hr workday with generous time between on-call responsibilities.


RESPONSIBILITIES:

Respond to calls reporting changes in condition, conducting timely assessments and following issues through to resolution
Clearly document assessments, actions taken, and outcomes, ensuring accurate dissemination of information to appropriate team members
Notify physicians of changes in condition as needed in a timely and appropriate manner
Share relevant information obtained through committees, clinical meetings, and interdisciplinary collaboration with appropriate staff
Identify medication‑related issues including side effects, adverse reactions, allergies, and lack of expected response; intervene appropriately; communicate findings; and document thoroughly
Communicate student and resident health status updates to families and staff regarding medical issues, medication changes, and related concerns as they occur
Maintain professional, clear, and compassionate communication that promotes shared understanding
Remain available as a clinical resource to answer questions and provide guidance to staff and families
Administer medications in accordance with physician orders and agency standards
Participate in medication training and oversight, including AMAP training and annual supervision of certified staff
Adhere strictly to infection control practices, modeling and reinforcing universal precautions and acting as an educator for staff and students
Participate in new employee orientation related to health services and infection control
Maintain required immunizations, testing, and compliance documentation
Collaborate openly with nursing colleagues and interdisciplinary team members to support continuity of care
Adhere to time, attendance, and scheduling practices in accordance with agency policy
Current New York State license to practice as a Registered Professional Nurse in good standing (generous compensation provided for Developmental Disabilities Nursing certification)
Experience working with individuals with autism and/or developmental disabilities preferred; comprehensive training provided for the right candidate
Ability to successfully complete and maintain required orientation, training, and professional qualifications
