The Employee Development and Training Manager – Japan is responsible for developing, delivering, documenting and overall leading a comprehensive Vascular training strategies in the assigned regions. This role focuses on enabling business excellence and professional growth through sales training, business acumen development, leadership programs, and job-related skill enhancement for internal employees and distributor partners. The role ensures consistent messaging aligned with company vision, purpose, divisional priorities, and global training frameworks. The position also serves as a key liaison with regional and global stakeholders to drive effective, compliant, and sustainable learning solutions.

Responsibilities

• Employee signs a non-competition and confidentiality agreements in relation to his/her employment with Cook. Employee acts in compliance with company policies including but not limited to, the Cook Employee Manual, Cook Code of Conduct, Cook Electronic Information Policy, Product Complaints, Privacy regulations and Cook Policy & Guidance On Interaction with Healthcare Professionals.

 

• Create and provide training and development opportunities to all areas within the Vascular division including sales, business, and leadership related programs.• Support the structure for internal education and professional development to allow for global direction and alignment across programs, while accommodating for local and regional regulations and needs.• Create, standardize, and implement processes to ensure consistency and best practices for documentation, training content, and training delivery across the APAC regions.• Demonstrate clear understanding of and adherence to compliance and legal standards and regulatory processes relative to technical and procedural education delivery and materials.• Collaborate with subject-matter experts and management to provide expertise in curriculum design by assisting in setting learning objectives and developing or revising training programs to meet the needs of the Division.• Coordinate all activities and logistics related to the planning, development and delivery of training programs for employees within the Vascular division.• Help employees become competent in content by using instructional methods including lectures, demonstrations, small group activities, videos and other methodologies as appropriate.• Develop, communicate, and support cross-division programs strategies, including new product development, product launches, product marketing and field/customer support, as requested.• Collaborate with Human Resources (HR) in hiring, developing and retaining a diverse workforce within the Vascular training team ensuring consistency across divisions and functions and providing oversight and directions to the employee training and education process.• Interact with Talent Development, HR and other internal training departments in developing and maintaining a repository of training.

• Develop and implement comprehensive training programs that promote an ethical and compliant distribution business and enable the delivery of an excellent distributor and end-user customer experience.• Coordinate with divisions and relevant functions to ensure an appropriately trained distributor sales team.• Analyze and report data/metrics to management regarding training effectiveness.• Continuous communication with regional and global team to ensure consistent training is delivered for all employees.• Provide ongoing coaching, mentoring, and feedback, both formally through the performance management process and informally through daily discussions and interactions, while recognizing employees for their contributions.• Evaluate training effectiveness using defined metrics and continuously improve programs based on feedback and performance outcomes.• Ensure roles and responsibilities, performance expectations, and training requirements are developed, clearly documented, and communicated to each employee. • Cultivate a safe, secure, and supportive environment where employees can thrive and morale is maintained.• Meet deadlines and ensure completed administrative tasks such as expenses, training plans, reports, policy acknowledgements, reviews, etc. in a timely manner.• Identify and develop current and future leadership team.• Maintain our culture, values and commitment to ethics and compliance by recognizing, demonstrating, and enforcing appropriate and compliant behavior.• Understand and be accountable for conducting Cook business with integrity and in compliance with applicable standards including Cook policies.• Within scope of responsibility, ensure all quality, regulatory, compliance and product-specific requirements are met

 

 

Requirements

• College degree in related field and/or equivalent relevant experience.

• Proven experience in training, learning & development, sales enablement, or commercial excellence—preferably within the medical device, healthcare, or pharmaceutical industry.

• Strong understanding of sales training, business acumen, and leadership development principles preferred.

• Fluency in Japanese and competency in English (written and spoken).

• Proficient with personal computers and Microsoft Office or Mac OS and other business tools.

• This role requires fluency in Artificial Intelligence (AI) and data concepts, aligned with organizational standards for responsible and effective use.

 

Ability to travel domestically, internationally and weekends as needed up to 50%.Work under general office and hospital or clinical environmental conditions.Employee to be field based - working from office or training facility as required.

• Demonstrate strong strategic and leadership skills.

• Extensive experience in a clinical or sales training environment.

• Effective time management and organization skills.

• Knowledge in training documentation systems or processes.

• Knowledge in adult learning theories including assessments and competency-based trainings.

• Model the company standards that others are expected to follow.

• Demonstrate positive and constructive behaviors that drive team cooperation in achieving training objectives.
