We approach every challenge with ambition and commitment, holding ourselves and each other accountable to achieve the best results. When you join Appian, you’ll be part of a passionate team dedicated to accomplishing hard things, together.

As a Legal Operations Intern, you'll work with the Legal team to gain an authentic, real-world experience doing tangible and meaningful work. This role is designed for a proactive student eager to understand the intersection of law, business efficiency, and technology. As a Legal Operations Intern, you will gain hands-on experience in the lifecycle of corporate contracting. You’ll collaborate on the review and analysis of various agreements while managing critical administrative tasks and maintaining the integrity of our digital legal records. A significant part of this role involves mastering our internal software systems, where you will serve as a key resource in leveraging these tools to scale the Legal team’s operations.

This internship is based at our headquarters in McLean, Virginia. Appian was built on a culture of in-person collaboration, which we believe is a key driver of our mission to be the best. Interns in this program are expected to be in the office 5 days a week to fully experience our culture, learn directly from peers and mentors, and contribute to projects in a collaborative environment. Being in the office provides more opportunities to connect, learn, and celebrate with the exceptional people across Appian.

To be successful in this role, you will:

  • Assist with the onboarding of new contracts and the review and negotiation of Non-Disclosure Agreements (NDAs).
  • Maintain the accuracy and organization of contract records, ensuring all legal contracts and agreements are up to date within our internal systems.
  • Support the legal team in updating, standardizing, and improving legal templates to drive departmental efficiency.
  • Assist in the maintenance of internal process guides and standard operating procedures (SOPs) to ensure departmental consistency and knowledge sharing.
  • Assist in tracking key performance metrics for the legal department, helping to turn raw data into actionable insights.
  • Provide administrative and project management support for various Legal Operations initiatives as needed.
