Engineer I: $72,000 - $84,000
Engineer II: $80,000 - $92,000
Engineer III: $90,000 - $102,000
Senior Engineer: $97,000 - $112,000
Final compensation is based on experience, skills, and alignment with role expectations.
As a Mechanical Design Engineer - Reverse Engineering in Brooklyn Park, MN, you will:
- Support transformer remanufacturing and mechanical redesign projects with a focus on accuracy, efficiency, and long‑cycle engineering workflows
- Use Faro tripod scanners and Creaform handheld scanners to capture precise physical measurements of transformer components and assemblies
- Convert scan data into accurate 2D detailed drawings for gaskets, flanges, mounting structures, and mechanical interfaces
- Apply minimal 3D modeling techniques in Inventor to support drawing creation and ensure dimensional accuracy
- Perform mechanical modification design work for transformer components based on scan outputs and engineering requirements
- Contribute to redesign projects, including mounting structures for mobile substations and other transformer‑related systems
- Collaborate with engineering teams and subject‑matter experts to validate measurements, drawings, and design intent
- Ensure drawing accuracy to support manufacturing, remanufacturing, and field modification activities
- Work collaboratively with suppliers and Applied partners to support project execution
- Contribute to engineering projects impacting communities in Chaska, Shakopee, Savage, Carver, and the southwest Minneapolis metro
Requirements
~1 min read- Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering (BSME) required
- Experience with scanning technologies such as Faro tripod systems or Creaform handheld scanners strongly preferred
- Ability to convert physical measurements and scan data into accurate 2D engineering drawings using Inventor
- Familiarity with minimal 3D modeling workflows to support drawing creation and dimensional accuracy
- Understanding of mechanical components used in transformers, including gaskets, flanges, and mounting structures
- Ability to work on long‑cycle, detail‑intensive engineering projects requiring precision and consistency
- Strong collaboration skills for working with cross‑functional engineering, field, and remanufacturing teams
- High attention to detail and commitment to producing accurate, manufacturable drawings
- Ability to validate measurements, confirm design intent, and support field or supplier discussions as needed
- Strong problem‑solving skills with the ability to interpret scan data, resolve discrepancies, and ensure drawing accuracy
- Capable of working independently and as a team member
