In addition, we offer a comprehensive compensation and benefits package including:
Engineer III: $43.27–$49.04/hour
Senior Engineer: $46.63–$53.85/hour
Final compensation is based on experience, skills, and alignment with role expectations. Paid overtime may be available.
As a Mechanical Engineer – Custom Machinery & Automation in Shoreview, MN, you will:
- Design and engineer large‑scale, low‑volume mechanical systems including cranes, welded structures, and custom critical‑handling equipment
- Develop automation and robotic mechanisms for extreme‑duty lifting, motion, and precision‑handling applications
- Lead mechanical design activities from concept through modeling, detailing, and release using SolidWorks
- Track and manage project requirements, ensuring technical accuracy and on‑schedule execution
- Facilitate internal and customer design reviews, presenting concepts, engineering decisions, and progress updates
- Mentor junior engineers while collaborating closely with chief and principal engineers to refine design approaches
- Provide technical guidance to support new business initiatives and custom engineered‑to‑order lifting solutions
- Partner with cross‑functional engineering groups to establish new design standards and contribute to continuous improvement
- Support fabrication, assembly, installation, and commissioning of large mechanical systems, including occasional travel to customer sites
- Innovate mechanical solutions for unique lifting, motion, and automation challenges not found in traditional factory environments
- Work collaboratively with suppliers and Applied partners
- Contribute to projects that impact communities in Roseville, Arden Hills, New Brighton, Mounds View, Vadnais Heights, Little Canada, North Oaks, White Bear Lake, Lino Lakes, Blaine, and the greater St. Paul metro area
- Apply your skills in a dynamic environment that values ownership and innovation
Requirements
~1 min read- Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering
- 5–10+ years of experience in machine design, automation, heavy equipment, or large‑scale mechanical systems
- Proficiency in 3D CAD modeling; SolidWorks strongly preferred
- Ability to lead and manage complex machine or automation designs from concept through detailing and release
- Demonstrated ownership of engineering projects with a track record of driving them to completion
- Strong planning, organizational, and communication skills
- Experience mentoring or guiding individuals or teams through mechanical design processes
- Willingness to travel for installation and commissioning support (typically <10%, periodically up to 25%)
- Capable of working independently and as a team member
- Strong work ethic and unwavering integrity
- Excellent interpersonal skills and a learning mindset
- Curiosity, problem solving, and analytical thinking
- Effective verbal and written communication
- Desire to work on a variety of projects
