About the Role
~1 min readWe are seeking a Lead Technical Writer with leadership capabilities to manage documentation initiatives across product lines, drive process excellence, mentor writers, and collaborate closely with Product, Engineering, UX, and Release teams. The ideal candidate has deep experience in technical content development, hands-on expertise with documentation tools and automation platforms, and an ability to leverage AI-driven content acceleration to scale the documentation function.
This role requires someone who can balance hands-on writing, people management, and strategic enablement, ensuring documentation is accurate, consistent, discoverable, and aligned with product vision.
Responsibilities
~1 min read- Lead a team of technical writers, providing guidance on writing standards, structure, and best practices.
- Own end-to-end documentation strategy across multiple product lines (SaaS, on-prem).
- Partner with Product Managers, UX Designers, Engineering Leads, and Release Managers to ensure timely, high-quality documentation.
- Define documentation processes, review templates, style guides, and standards for consistency.
- Support cross-functional initiatives such as onboarding experience, knowledge base development, and customer-facing documentation content.
- Create, review, and maintain high-quality technical content including product guides, Release Notes, KB articles etc
- Translate complex technical concepts (Networking, Cloud, Security, DevOps, Automation, etc.) into clear, simple, audience-appropriate documentation.
- Ensure content accuracy, readability, and alignment with product behavior and branding standards.
- Build and maintain client aids that go beyond traditional documentation, such as online videos, demos, guided tours, and other educational techniques.
- Passion for continuous learning, AI enablement, and modern documentation practices.
- Identify problem areas or structural deficiencies and proactively contribute to their improvement.
- Use GenAI tools (ChatGPT, GitHub Copilot, Writer, etc.) to accelerate drafting, content summarization, quality checks, and content reuse.
- Implement AI-assisted documentation workflows (content repurposing, translation, metadata tagging).
- Contribute to structured content frameworks and knowledge models to enable future AI-driven documentation.
- Evaluate documentation automation tools and propose improvements for scale, accuracy and consistency.
- Documentation tools: MadCap Flare, Confluence, DITA/XML systems, Oxygen XML Editor
- Product documentation platforms: Git/GitLab/GitHub, CMS, Static site generators
- Diagramming tools: Visio, Lucidchart, Draw.io, Figma
- API documentation tools: Swagger / OpenAPI / Postman
- Content quality & proofreading tools
- AI tools for writing, content generation, and documentation automation
- Exposure to CI/CD pipelines
- Knowledge of HTML, XML, CSS, or scripting
Requirements

- Strong understanding of software development lifecycle and agile methodologies.
- Strong written communication, editing, and information architecture skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects, prioritize effectively, and deliver under tight timelines.
