We are pleased to invite applications for a Program Director to oversee our Specialized Care Program based in Kelowna, BC.
The Specialized Care Program provides group care, supervision and treatment services for youth in care who have diversabilities, complex needs and / or behaviour challenges.
Youth participating in the program are supported to increase their emotional stability and their interpersonal and life-skills; to develop family, social and community connections; and to achieve individual goals which promote success and stability in future living arrangements.
Hours / Schedule:
- Full-Time, Permanent
- Averaging 40-hours / week.
Service hours will be delivered on a flexible basis, including some evenings and weekends to accommodate the needs of the program and / or clients served.
This position has a rotating weekend on-call requirement to respond to crisis situations.
Responsibilities:
Under the direction and supervision of the Director of Services, the Program Director will oversee all operational aspects of the Specialized Care Program including:
- Planning, organizing, controlling, and direct the provision of Specialized Care services.
- Implementing comprehensive plans and strategies to achieve identified program objectives.
- Collaborating with People and Culture with staff recruitment, onboarding and retention.
- Coordinating referral, screening, and intake procedures.
- Providing leadership, mentorship, direction, and supervision to House Coordinators and the staff team to implement services as per the program model, and established behaviour plans for each child / youth.
- Providing crisis consultation and support, including after-hours on-call response.
- Training, supervising and supporting House Coordinators to maintain client records and effective case management practices.
- Participate as a member of the Management Team to develop long range and strategic plans, and collaborate, assess and resolve operational issues as they arise.
- Completing administrative duties, including the range of required incident, quality assurance and program reports.
- Providing annual employee performance appraisals.
- Liaising with MCFD, stakeholders, and other involved professionals to coordinate and enhance services and ensure ongoing best practice
Preferred Education and Experience:
Educational requirements:
- MSW or a master’s degree in a relevant discipline (MA in Counselling, MA Psychology etc.) is strongly preferred.
- BSW or a bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline (CYC, BA in Psychology, etc.) will be considered with extensive (minimum 3- years) of experience directly related to the position.
To thrive in this role, you will combine strong supervisory experience with clinical expertise supporting individuals who experience:
- Diverse abilities
- Complex behavioural challenges
- Substance misuse
- Attachment injuries
- Mental health diagnoses
Experience and Core Competencies:
- Minimum three (3) years of experience related to case management within relevant service areas
- Supervisory experience within similar programs or services
- Experience working effectively within multi-disciplinary teams
- Demonstrated experience conducting assessments for individuals with diverse needs and complex behaviours, and developing individualized care plans
- Strong knowledge of developmental delays and disabilities, including ASD, FASD, and other complex support needs
Other Requirements:
Given the nature of our work, please note that all shortlisted candidates:
- Need a valid BC Driver's License, regional insurance, and a reliable personal vehicle.
- Must undergo a screening process, including a criminal record search.
Wage / Benefits:
$90,000+ annually, based on relevant experience and education.
Upon successful completion of a trial period, this position is eligible for a full benefit package (including dental plan, vision coverage, life insurance, extended medical coverage, long-term disability plan, and RRSP or TFSA contributions); as well as accrued vacation and sick time at 5.8% - above BC Employment Standards!
