Artefact Belgium is looking for a Tech Lead – Gen AI to own the technical vision of our AI projects, mentor a team of engineers, and drive cutting-edge solutions for our clients. Responsibilities
~1 min read- →Own the technical vision: Define and drive the technical architecture of AI-powered solutions across client engagements, including RAG systems, agentic AI architectures, multi-modal applications, and multi-agent workflows.
- →Lead by example: Stay hands-on : contribute to critical parts of the codebase, conduct code reviews, and set engineering standards that the team rallies around.
- →Mentor a small team: Guide a team of 2-6 engineers and data scientists, helping them grow technically and professionally. Contribute to team-building efforts, including involvement in hiring and onboarding.
- →Establish evaluation frameworks: Design and implement comprehensive quality metrics and benchmarks to ensure production-ready, reliable AI solutions that meet client requirements.
- →Engage and advise clients: Serve as the primary technical lead in client interactions — translating business needs into AI solutions, presenting technical choices, and building long-term trust throughout project lifecycles.
- →Shape the AI roadmap: Identify new use cases, optimize performance and contribute to the development of internal AI tools and products.
- →Build scalable infrastructure: Oversee deployment and maintenance of AI systems, including model serving, API development, vector databases, and orchestration frameworks.
- →Contribute to thought leadership: Publish insights, present at conferences, and drive internal knowledge sharing on emerging AI technologies, agent frameworks, and best practices.
- A degree in computer science, engineering, mathematics, or a related field.
- At least 6-7 years of professional experience in AI, with a strong focus on Machine Learning, generative AI.
- Proven experience as a technical lead or senior engineer, with a track record of owning architecture decisions and guiding engineering teams.
- Consulting experience, including managing client relationships and delivering tailored, production-grade solutions.
- Deep expertise in modern generative AI techniques including RAG systems, agentic workflows, multi-agent architectures, evaluation frameworks, and production deployment.
- Strong programming skills in Python and extensive experience with AI frameworks and cloud providers.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to present technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Proficiency in English, Dutch, or French is required; additional languages are a plus.
- You must be eligible to work in Belgium.
