Transport Department Manager

As our Transport Department Manager, you’ll take charge of the transport operation within your department, making sure goods move safely, legally, and on time. You’ll achieve departmental KRAs while supporting our wider depot strategy and ensuring every journey runs smoothly.

Reporting to the Shift Manager, you’ll oversee day-to-day transport activity, from scheduling and vehicle deployment to delivery accuracy. You’ll apply established procedures, carry out routine checks, and ensure full compliance with legal requirements and Asda standards.

• Safety & compliance focused: You apply transport legislation, manage risk, and uphold HS\&E policies.
• Analytical & thorough: You analyse transport data, produce clear reports, and use insight to drive decisions.
• Strong collaborator: You work effectively across teams to support wider depot operations.

• Experience working with structured transport or logistics procedures.
• Experience supervising colleagues or leading routine operational activity.
• Strong planning skills, including scheduling and prioritising work.
• Understanding of safe systems of work and transport compliance.
• Ability to interpret data, analyse trends, and produce clear reports.
• Strong communication and people support skills.
• Flexibility to work a range of shifts, including early mornings, evenings, and weekends.
