DesignArt Director

Aspinal of London | London

We are looking for a highly organised, visually driven and proactive Creative Assistant to work closely with our Senior Art Director, acting as a true right hand across campaigns, content, e-commerce, shoots and post-production.

This is a varied and hands-on role for someone who is equally comfortable immersed in the creative process as they are managing the detail behind it. You will play an important role in bringing creative projects to life - from the initial mood board and shot list through to production, shoot days and final post-production.

The ideal candidate will have a strong visual eye, excellent attention to detail and a naturally methodical, project-led approach. You will be someone who can understand a creative vision, anticipate what is needed next and take ownership of making it happen.

This is an opportunity to work closely with a Senior Art Director within a luxury fashion accessories environment, gaining exposure to the full creative production process and becoming an integral part of the creative team.

  • Creative & Campaign Support
  • Support the Senior Art Director across seasonal campaigns, brand content, e-commerce and creative projects.
  • Assist with the development and organisation of mood boards, creative decks, shot lists and production documents.
  • Help translate creative direction into clear, structured and actionable production plans.
  • Work closely with the Senior Art Director to understand and maintain Aspinal’s visual identity and creative standards.
  • Research visual references, locations, props, styling and creative treatments where required.
  • Help ensure all creative outputs remain consistent with the brand’s luxury positioning and aesthetic.
  • Support the planning and preparation of photography and film shoots from initial briefing through to delivery.
  • Liaise with Merchandising to identify key products, bestsellers and commercial priorities for upcoming shoots.
  • Manage product, sample and stock requirements, ensuring everything required is available and accounted for.
  • Liaise with internal teams to ensure all creative requirements are captured ahead of production.
  • Help prepare shoot schedules, shot lists, call sheets and other production documentation.
  • Attend shoots in London and work closely alongside the Senior Art Director, photographer, stylist, film team and wider production crew.
  • Take responsibility for specific areas of a shoot when required, ensuring the creative direction and shot list are being delivered to the required standard.
  • Be confident working independently on set and making informed decisions within the agreed creative direction.
  • Support the Senior Art Director with image selection and initial post-production reviews.
  • Review imagery with a strong eye for detail, identifying issues with product, styling, composition, colour, retouching or overall creative execution.
  • Consolidate and communicate feedback clearly to photographers, retouchers and creative partners.
  • Track post-production amends and deadlines, ensuring projects stay on schedule.
  • Maintain clear records of outstanding actions and follow up with relevant teams and suppliers.
  • Help manage the final delivery of creative assets across relevant channels.
  • Act as the organisational backbone to the Senior Art Director across multiple concurrent projects.
  • Take detailed meeting notes and maintain clear action lists.
  • Follow up with internal teams, agencies, suppliers and production partners to ensure actions are completed.
  • Maintain project timelines, deadlines and key dates.
  • Proactively identify upcoming requirements and flag potential issues before they become problems.
  • Keep creative and production documentation organised and up to date.
  • Support the Senior Art Director with day-to-day project management, ensuring nothing falls through the cracks.

We are looking for someone who combines creative instinct with exceptional organisation.

You will ideally have experience within fashion, luxury, beauty, lifestyle, creative production, advertising, editorial or a similar visually led environment.

You will be:

  • Highly organised, methodical and proactive.
  • Naturally detail-oriented with an excellent visual eye.
  • Passionate about fashion, luxury and visual storytelling.
  • Comfortable working across multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously.
  • Confident communicating with a wide range of creative and commercial stakeholders.
  • Calm, resourceful and solutions-focused under pressure.
  • Someone who takes ownership rather than waiting to be told what to do.
  • Commercially aware and able to understand the balance between creative ambition and business priorities.
  • Confident working on set and comfortable in a fast-paced production environment.
  • A strong communicator with excellent follow-through.
  • Collaborative, adaptable and happy to work as part of a wider creative team.

Most importantly, you will be brand-led rather than ego-led. You will have your own creative perspective and a strong visual point of view, but you will also understand how to interpret and support an established creative direction.

You will be someone who can look at a project and think:

“What needs to happen next, and how can I make sure it happens?”

We would be particularly interested in candidates with experience in roles such as:

  • Creative Assistant
  • Art Director’s Assistant
  • Junior Art Director
  • Creative Producer
  • Fashion / Creative Producer
  • Studio or Creative Coordinator
  • Production Assistant within a creative environment

Experience working across photography, film, e-commerce or campaign production would be highly advantageous.

This is not a traditional Monday–Friday, 9–5 office-based role, and there is no expectation of working from an office on fixed days each week. The working pattern will vary depending on the needs of each project, with a combination of virtual working, creative meetings, production planning, shoots and travel.

A significant element of the role will be virtual and remote working. You will work very closely with the Senior Art Director remotely on creative development, mood boards, shot lists, production requirements, project timelines and post-production. This will be a highly collaborative and hands-on way of working, with regular calls, virtual working sessions and ongoing communication throughout the day - effectively working together virtually as you would in person.

We are looking for someone who is highly self-motivated, proactive and accountable, and who thrives when working with autonomy. You will be expected to take ownership of your workload, manage your priorities effectively, maintain momentum and keep the Senior Art Director informed of progress, actions and any potential issues. Strong communication, visibility and follow-through are essential.

When projects move into production, you will be expected to work alongside the Senior Art Director in person, including regular shoots in London and occasional shoots both within the UK and internationally. There will also be frequent travel to Aspinal’s Head Office in West Sussex.

The role therefore offers a varied and flexible working pattern, balancing highly engaged virtual collaboration with hands-on time together on shoots, creative projects and key moments.

As with any creative production role, shoot days can involve longer working hours, with early starts or later finishes depending on production schedules. Flexibility around shoot days and occasional travel will therefore be required.
