ASRC Federal Advanced Research LLC (AFAR) is seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer to join our Weather Observations Systems Subteam that supports the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) in Oklahoma City, OK. This is a full-time on-site position at the Mike Monroney Aeronautical Center (MMAC).    The FAA's Weather Observation Systems Subteam provides critical engineering, lifecycle management, and technical support for a comprehensive network of ground-based aviation weather sensors and information display platforms. By managing diverse equipment—ranging from the Automated Weather Observing System (AWOS) and wind shear detectors such as the Low Level Windshear Alert System (LLWAS) to specialized terminal data displays (ACE-IDS)—the team ensures that air traffic controllers and pilots have the accurate, real-time meteorological data essential for safe flight operations.   Citizenship Requirement All candidates must have the following to pass the Federal Background Investigation and obtain the FAA Public Trust security clearance. Be a US Citizen. Have resided in the US for three (3) consecutive years. RealID Driver’s License/ID or current US Passport.   Relocation Requirement Candidate must reside or be willing to relocate within a commutable distance to Oklahoma City, OK.    Education & Experience Requirement All non-US Degrees must have a US Equivalency Certificate provided by the candidate.  Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related IT field, such as Physics, Aerospace, Chemistry, Computer Science, or Mathematics. Nine (9) plus years of experience is required. NAS experience is desired.    Required Skills  Proficient in/with: Simulation tools used for analysis (Matlab, Simulink). Common serial communications protocols such as RS232. Printed Circuit Board (PCB) design techniques, and have the ability to troubleshot existing circuit boards. Microsoft Disk Operating System (MS-DOS). HW system design, schematics and interconnects. Programming languages and scripts used in model and tool development (C, C++, Python). Ability to: Work independently, as well as a team, in a fast-paced environment.  Navigate complex workflows; research and problem solve; willingness to learn/try new things. Communicate effectively through verbal and written communication.    Preferred Skills  Knowledge/Experience in: Legacy System Modernization through experience migrating, upgrading, or modernizing legacy hardware and software. Multidisciplinary Engineering with a deep understanding or experience in Radio Frequency (RF) systems, telecommunications, or uninterruptible power systems (UPS). Proficiency with project management tools such as MS Project.   Essential Daily Job Duties Conduct: System upgrades, modifications, and calibration activities to improve performance and meet operational requirements. Feasibility studies and cost analyses for electrical systems. Or participate in formal and informal reviews at predetermined points throughout the development life cycle. Develop and maintain technical documentation, including maintenance procedures and system configurations. Troubleshoot, analyze, and determine operational issues and recommend solutions.   Work Environment Full-time position with a standard work schedule. Cubicle environment.
