ASRC Federal System Solutions is seeking an Systems Engineer to support the FAA’s Radar System Replacement (RSR) program, the largest and most significant radar modernization effort within the National Airspace System (NAS). The Systems Engineer will play a key technical role in evaluating, designing, integrating, and supporting electrical systems required for installation and operation of the new cooperative and integrated radar systems deployed across FAA facilities.   Work location:  Remote.  Position requires 50% travel. Clearance:  Public Trust; ability to successfully complete a government issued background investigation.    Summary: This engineer will work closely with the System Engineer Lead, Systems Engineers, Mechanical Engineers, and Engineering Technicians to support site surveys, electrical design development, facility modifications, grounding/lightning protection assessments, power distribution requirements, and installation support. The role requires hands-on engineering experience, the ability to interpret and develop electrical diagrams, and the capability to support field and implementation activities across a compressed, nationwide deployment timeline.   Required Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, preferably in electrical engineering (mechanical or systems engineering considered with relevant experience). 2+ years of engineering experience supporting electrical system design, field engineering, power systems, or facility electrical infrastructure. Experience interpreting or developing electrical diagrams, panel schedules, grounding plans, and cable routing drawings. Working knowledge of power distribution, AC/DC systems, grounding/bonding, electrical safety practices, and equipment installation standards. Ability to support field surveys and on-site implementation activities at FAA facilities. Strong communication skills with the ability to prepare technical documentation and interact with multidisciplinary engineering teams. Ability to pass an FAA background investigation (US Citizenship or Permanent Residency required). Ability to travel to various locations; must have proper travel documents.  At least 50% travel.    Preferred Qualifications Experience with FAA radar systems (ASR-8, ASR-9, ASR-11). Experience with FAA engineering standards (FAA-STD-002H, FAA-STD-019G, FAA-G-2100J). Prior experience supporting FAA infrastructure improvements. Experience with communication network infrastructures, such as fiber, copper, routing/switching paths, and establishing or modifying communication links to support system integration. Professional certifications such as PE, PMP, or relevant radar/telecom certifications. Experience working in cross-functional engineering teams on large-scale deployment or installation programs.     Responsibilities Electrical Engineering Support for RSR Implementation Support the development of electrical system designs, power distribution assessments, grounding/bonding requirements, and electrical integration plans for radar installations across FAA facilities. Assist in preparing electrical diagrams, panel schedules, single-line drawings, and installation requirements in accordance with FAA standards, including FAA-G-2100J and FAA-STD-019G. Contribute to system and facility design packages, including wiring diagrams, equipment layouts, and power system interfaces.   Site Surveys, Facility Power Assessments, and Readiness Participate in site surveys to evaluate facility power availability, grounding systems, electrical infrastructure conditions, and required modifications for RSR deployment. Assess demarcation points for power, grounding, and AC/DC distribution in accordance with PWS requirements. Document electrical findings and develop inputs for Site Survey Reports (SSR) and Site-Specific Implementation Plans (SSIP).   Electrical Design Integration and Compliance Ensure electrical designs align with FAA engineering standards and site-specific requirements, including FAA-STD-019G (Lightning, Surge Protection, Grounding, Bonding, Shielding) and FAA-C-1217H (Electrical Work, Premises Wiring). Support integration of new radar equipment with legacy facility power systems, grounding networks, and electrical distribution panels. Assist with electrical assessments to confirm system readiness and integration feasibility.   Installation and Field Support Provide electrical engineering support during system installation, including oversight of wiring, cable routing, panel connections, grounding, surge protection, and equipment power-up. Coordinate with technicians and OEM representatives to resolve electrical integration issues, field discrepancies, and installation challenges. Support documentation of as-built electrical configurations and redline updates to facility drawings.   Engineering Design, Development, and Documentation Lead development of detailed system and facility design packages including floorplans, rack elevations, wiring diagrams, power distribution, and communication interface requirements. Translate FAA operational needs into optimized design configurations and site-specific implementation strategies. Ensure all engineering documentation adheres to FAA standards and RSR data management requirements.   System Optimization, Testing, and Acceptance Assist with electrical portions of Site Acceptance Test (SAT) procedures, including power verification, grounding continuity, surge protection validation, and electrical interface testing. Support system optimization activities to ensure electrical performance and system reliability meet FAA operational requirements. Participate in discrepancy resolution, regression testing, and corrective action support.   Documentation, Coordination, and Technical Reporting Prepare engineering documentation including diagrams, reports, field notes, and technical inputs for PMRs, SSRs, SSIPs, SAT procedures, and optimization reports. Coordinate electrical engineering efforts with the System Engineer Lead, GOSR representatives, OEM teams, and other FAA stakeholders. Ensure all electrical engineering work adheres to program configuration management and data management processes.
