About the Role
~1 min readAs a Senior Solutions Architect on the Delivery Architecture team, you are the senior technical lead for customer engagements within Astronomer’s Professional Services team. You work directly with engineering leaders, architects, and executive stakeholders to design and deploy data orchestration platforms on Astro, define a clear path to production, and support delivery teams through complex implementations. This role combines solution architecture with hands-on technical work, including building prototypes to validate designs, diagnosing issues, and unblocking delivery.

Lead architecture reviews, workshops, and technical design sessions with engineering teams and executive stakeholders.

Design end-to-end platform architectures integrating Airflow with cloud infrastructure, compute frameworks, and data platforms.

Review delivery work to ensure high standards for scalability, observability, security, and operational excellence.

Diagnose and resolve issues, guide customers through deployments, migrations, and platform modernization.

Build reusable tools, frameworks, reference architectures, and best practices that improve delivery quality across the organization.
8+ years of experience in data engineering or platform architecture in production environments.
Strong Python and SQL skills.
Deep experience designing and operating Apache Airflow in large-scale production deployments.
Experience designing cloud-native data architectures on AWS, Azure, or GCP.
Familiarity with enterprise cloud networking and security patterns.
Experience leading technical engagements and working with executive stakeholders.
Familiarity with CI/CD, infrastructure as code, Docker, and Kubernetes.
Strong communication, documentation, and mentoring skills.
Experience with Databricks, Snowflake, dbt, BigQuery, or Redshift.
Customer engagements are primarily remote. Occasional travel may be required for conferences and team on-sites.
Airflow is the backbone of data infrastructure at the world’s largest organizations, and Astronomer is the company behind it. You’ll work on real, complex architecture problems with customers who are pushing the platform to its limits.
The estimated salary for this role ranges from $190,000 - $250,000 based on leveling and geography, along with an equity component and a comprehensive benefits package. This range is merely an estimate; actual compensation may deviate from this range based on skills, experience, and qualifications.
