The Provider Relations Specialist is responsible for building and strengthening relationships with referring providers and healthcare organizations across the service area. This role promotes Augusta Health’s specialists, programs, and ancillary services while proactively identifying and addressing barriers to referral access, care coordination, and continuity of care.
- Bachelor’s degree in healthcare administration, business, marketing, sales, or a related healthcare field required
- 3–5 years of experience in provider relations, healthcare, business development, physician liaison, or a related role required
- Strong knowledge of healthcare delivery systems, referral processes, and provider practice operations
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and relationship-building skills
- Proficiency in various computer applications including Microsoft Office
- Ability to analyze problems and develop alternate solutions
- Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and travel within the service area
- Build and maintain strong, trusted relationships with referring providers, service line leaders and community stakeholders in assigned markets
- Collaborate closely with providers, service line leaders, marketing, and operations teams to align outreach activities with organizational priorities and referral workflows and access strategies
- Conduct regular outreach, practice visits, and relationship-building activities to support referral growth and retention
- Serve as a primary point of contact for provider inquiries related to referrals, access, services, and clinical programs
- Identify, troubleshoot, and help resolve challenges related to referrals, scheduling, access, and care coordination in partnership with internal teams
- Support strategic growth initiatives by identifying referral opportunities, service gaps, competitive insights and market trends
- Track provider interactions, referral patterns, and outreach activities
- Analyze referral data, provider feedback and market intelligence to identify opportunities for improvement and growth
- Prepare reports and insights to inform leadership and guide strategy
- Represent the organization professionally in all interactions
