Registered Nurse - Operating Room - Part Time

Responsible for the delivery of patient care in the operating room for assigned patients on a specific shift worked. Coordination of all aspects of the surgical plan and nursing standards of care using the process of assessment, planning, intervention, and evaluation of patient care outcomes. Also directs and guides the activities of other personnel while maintaining standards of professional nursing. Must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served in the operating room including the principles of growth and development over the life span. Must possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patient’s status and interpret the information needed to identify each patient’s requirements relative to his/her age specific needs as they relate to the surgical experience. Must be able to provide the care needed as described in the department’s policies and procedures.
Requirements
- Nursing Diploma and/or Associate Degree in Nursing
- Educational requirements per hospital certifications (Example: Stroke, Orthopedic/Spine)
- Current and valid Registered nurse license in the Commonwealth of Virginia or from a state that is part of a Compact agreement with Virginia
- CPR
- ACLS prior to coming off orientation
Preferred Qualifications:
- BSN, MSN
- Preferred specialty certification
Skills:
- Ability to meet physical and mental requirements for job in a fast paced, operating surgical setting.
- On call required and rotating shifts.
- Unit and annual competencies to be completed each year.
- Annual education required per hospital certification(s).
- HIPAA – understands PHI policies.
- Knowledgeable of location and content of departmental policies and procedures.
- Nurse Practice Act-Scope of Practice.
- Basic computer skills.
- National Patient Safety Goals.
