Backend Engineer

Avantos is seeking a Backend Engineer to join our team in building the Avantos web application from the ground up.

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable and efficient backend services using Golang and Python
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define, design, and ship new features
• Implement and optimize database schemas, queries, and data models using PostgreSQL
• Work with event-driven architectures and message queues, particularly Kafka
• Participate in code reviews and contribute to improving our development practices
• Manage and optimize our AWS cloud infrastructure
• Troubleshoot, debug, and fix production issues
• Write clean, maintainable, and well-documented code
• Contribute to the continuous improvement of our development and deployment processes

• 3-5 years of experience in backend development
• Strong proficiency in Golang and / or Python
• Experience with AWS services and cloud architecture
• Solid understanding of relational databases, particularly PostgreSQL
• Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
• Strong written communication skills

• Familiarity with event-driven architectures and message queues (Kafka)
• Experience with containerization and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes)
• Knowledge of CI/CD practices and tools (ArgoCD)
• Experience with infrastructure as code tools (Terraform)
• Experience in the financial services industry
• Familiarity with microservices architecture
• Knowledge of security best practices in cloud environments
• Experience with monitoring and logging tools
