(AWP) is North America’s leading designer and manufacturer of innovative merchandising solutions for the retail grocery, convenience, and pharmacy market.  We are growing and are looking for a Purchasing & Logistics Coordinator to join our team in Surrey.

This role provides day-to-day coordination and administrative support for the Company's purchasing, logistics and inventory-related activities.


KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Create, maintain, and update purchase orders in the ERP system based on product demands.
  • Obtain supplier quotations and assist with pricing comparisons.
  • Establish, develop and maintain strong relationships with vendors and key suppliers and evaluate vendor performance
  • Follow up with suppliers regarding PO acknowledgements, pricing, lead times, and delivery commitments.
  • Coordinate with Production, Warehouse, Project Coordination, and Finance regarding purchasing requirements.
  • Assist with identifying alternative sources and suppliers as directed.
  • Assist with vendor performance tracking, including quality, delivery, responsiveness, and service.
  • Escalate supplier issues and potential production impacts to the Purchasing & Logistics Supervisor.
  • Request and compare freight quotations as required.
  • Book shipments with approved carriers and logistics providers.
  • Track shipments and proactively follow up on delayed or exception shipments.
  • Coordinate delivery requirements with carriers, customers, Warehouse, and Project Coordination.
  • Assist with freight claims, damage claims, shortages, and delivery discrepancies.
  • Communicate with freight carriers regarding service issues and shipment exceptions.
  • Assist with customs and import/export documentation.


QUALIFICATIONS

Education & Experience:

  • Post Secondary degree or diploma in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Operations Management, or a related field.
  • Minimum 1 year of progressive experience in purchasing, procurement, logistics or supply chain operations, preferably in manufacturing environment.
  • Experience sourcing materials, negotiating with suppliers, and managing vendor relationships.
  • Experience, certification or coursework in ERP systems (especially Infor), logistics, or project management and Microsoft Office applications.

 

Knowledge & Skills:

  • Strong knowledge of supplier management and strategic sourcing principles
  • Excellent negotiation and relationship management skills
  • Strong knowledge of inventory management and manufacturing planning concepts
  • Experience with freight, customs and import/export documentation as well as Canadian trade compliance
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with sound business judgement


Work Environment

  • Monday – Friday, flexible start time (8.5hr shift)
