The Baker Hughes Internship is designed to enable students either pursuing a Bachelors’ or Masters’ degree or recently graduated to gain hands-on work experience as the foundation of their professional lives. Our internships will give you first-hand insights into the processes, systems, and practices that are aligned to ensure customer needs are met through flawless execution and the application of leading-edge technology.

You’ll participate in focused training, and team meetings, work on projects, and present your results. During your internship, you will be supported by a buddy and your manager who will ensure you have a valuable learning experience. You can expect to receive coaching and mentoring to enable you to complete assignments and projects to develop your learning and skillset.

You will also have the opportunity to become familiar with the Health, Safety, and Environment (HS&E) and culture of Baker Hughes. as well as our strong commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion.

Within the PME Civil & Structures team, the internship candidate will support the completion, validation, and release of an advanced structural optimization tool.

The tool combines finite element method (FEM) analysis with machine learning algorithms to enable faster, smarter, and more efficient structural design, with the objective of reducing structural weight, cost, and lead time.

The candidate will closely work with a Principal Engineer, supporting the following activities:

  • Tool Enhancement & Integration
    • Expand tool capabilities with additional features and performance improvements
    • Develop interfaces to integrate with other engineering tools
    • Ensure compatibility with platforms such as IDEA StatiCa, Tekla, Caesar Structures, and AVEVA
  • Advanced Use Cases Development
    • Develop modules for land transport and lifting analysis
    • Implement engineering constraints and real-case scenarios
    • Validate tool performance against practical applications and benchmark cases
  • Digital Deployment & Release
    • Support migration of the tool to cloud environments
    • Assist with development (DEV) release preparation, testing and validation
    • Contribute to ensuring a robust, user-ready deployment

To be successful in this role you will:

  • Master’s degree in Engineering

  • Basic knowledge of structural mechanics, including:

    • Stress and strain analysis

    • Structural behavior and load paths

    • Fundamentals of Finite Element Method (FEM)

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

  • Interest in engineering tool development and digital workflows

  • Basic understanding or exposure to Artificial Intelligence / Machine Learning concepts (preferred)

  • Familiarity with FEA tools (e.g., SAP2000, Abaqus, ANSYS, STAAD) & programming skills (preferred)

  • Fluent in English (oral and written)

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills

  • Be able to legally work in the country in which you are applying, without company sponsorship or time restrictions.

The fixed allowance for this position will be between this range: 600 - 1000 € gross monthly.

The allowance will be established in accordance with criteria related to the candidate’s academic status and their distance from the workplace.
